How will the Land registry strikes affect people who are in the process of buying?

@Land_Registry My uncle discovered a charge on his property dating back to the early 1990s. I was added by an "friend" of his who has since died. My uncle knew nothing of this charge, there was some very questionable terms added to the charge.
We asked Land Registry for a copy. My uncle never entered into this arrangement and we could tell the signature was fake. We have since approached the daughter of the person the charge is for and asked her permission to remove it (through solicitors), she is asking for a crazy amount of money and threatening to force the sale of the property. She had no idea this charge existed before we approached her and did not form part of her father's probate. It's worth noting he was sectioned for psychosis a week after the charge was dated.
We have sought the opinion of a forensic handwriting expert who has reported back that she believes that my uncles signature was forged on the charge.
How do we proceed from here, my uncle is reluctant to go to the police, or report to action fraud. But we need this false charge removed from the title?

But we need this false charge removed from the title? We very rarely sit in judgement re such matters as that’s a court’s role and remit. I would recommend you discuss with your solicitor the legal aspects of your cases and consider taking legal action through the courts to have the charge dismissed/discharged as appropriate. You can of course apply to us as stated and the request would be considered and a formal response given according to what’s applied for and the supporting evidence provided“Official Company Representative

A__L said:How will the Land registry strikes affect people who are in the process of buying? Most buyers rely on obtaining registered information to enable them to exchange/complete and those services are largely automated so any disruption should be minimal.“Official Company Representative

Hi LR and all
When requesting information via the LR site regarding another property that we do not own, can the owner of that property tell who applied for their LR information, please?
I am aware that there is an email process where I as the owner of rental property etc is notified if any activity is noted at LR re property/s we own but can't recall if I can tell who did the search etc.
Many thanks in advance.0 -

Many thanks in advance. The Property Alert service notifies you of a significant application being submitted and/or an official search. Not a general online search for information which is the context of your post“Official Company Representative
