  • reading books, story books. I have found some good self help books (Miracle Morning, Living Forward and Mini Habits)

    I want a good story.

I am completely skint. I have to pay my road tax and pay off the Credit card, luckily all my friends are away the first few weeks of the holiday so I shouldn't be out too much.

  • I love Marian Keyes chick lit stuff. I'm also a fan of people like Jo Nesbo for the grittier kind of crime books. Another go to is Grisham or Val macdiarmid. Rosamund Pilcher books can be a kind of comfort food for me too. When I doubt, see what the w0rks has on offer

Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine - fab book, read it in a day.

Aside from that I just stand in the charity shop/bootfair and pick up anything with a cover that jumps out, a quick read of the blurb on the back and if it sound ok then that'll do.

  • I read Eleanor oliphant too. Struggled initially than galloped through it.

    Hi Buffy

That sounds like a healthy change of attitude to me, doing term by term if it suits you and enjoying trips away :)

I've just finished Naomi Novik's 'Uprooted' on audiobook and loved it - like the writing and much less predictable than a lot of fantasy stuff.

I do tend to enjoy the Richard and Judy Book Club books, makes you read books you wouldn't have read otherwise. Apart from that my favourites are Cathy Kelly, Patricia Scanlan, Tasmina Perry and Victoria Hislop. But I'll give most a try. I do love my books, always have done since I was around 2 years old.

I am not sure what type of books you like reading but here are a selection of my favourite authors.

BA Paris is a newish author who has written some brilliant books. The breakdown, bring me back and behind closed doors. All great suspense novels which kept me gripped.

Lucinda Riley is another favourite. I am reading the seven sisters series. She has written numerous books and all have been very readable.

Harlan Coben, Robert Goddard and Linwood Barclay are also good reads.

My book club book is Nemesis by Philip Roth which is the first of his I have read and very thought provoking. JoJo Moyes and Jodi Picault are two great authors as well.

    WOW!
I have to make a list!

    thank you all :):)

I love Rosmund Plicher, I read her years ago......I think i might visit the library as am now totally skint!

Nice is expensive! I appreciate that is obvious but I went away with two friends - one like me, little money and the other one completely loaded... 35 quid bottles of wine(which I don't drink so didn't pay towards but she thought that was cheap), essentially we spent about 75 Euros a day so I am super skint. I haven't been on holiday since 2011 and it was only 4 days. And it was beautiful. Hey ho.

I do get paid soon, so that is ok really. Apart from it taking all my summer savings it will be ok...

Oh I have bad car news but will tell you about that later! I need my book list first XXXX
