I am jealous!
I have just booked two nights in Canterbury in July. I haven't told anyone, I have just done it. It is about an hour or so away and an easy ride on the train. No pressure no stress just time to myself without having to please anyone else.
I need some thing nearer than the end of term to look forward since even tho this is a holiday I still have to constantly accommodate Mum and her schedule I can't ever really relax especially now BIL is ill and sister needs help.
So yeah. That is my news. That and my wisdom teeth hurt!

Hello all,
Luc - I have repliedxx
This week has been rough so far. I bought new fish at the weekend as reward for surviving the dentist....Two for the pond. Well they turned my lovely peaceful pond into a hideous blood bath, outright killing 4 fish, leaving two half eaten, easily the worst moment of this hobby was finding those two fish. It was terrible. One fish of the type that were attacked was ok, I removed them and have put them in a fish tank. One of the half eaten ones died - not a surprise, I probably should have intervened on that one but honestly was pretty much wrecked with the finding, cleaning and emptying of the pond, looking hopelessly for the rest of the fish.
And then last night (I had forgotten) I was picking up another fish from someone, it took two hours to get there! and virtually the same to get back so was shattered last night. Plus of course I now had no where to put the poor thing!
He is sorted now. But what a couple of days of running around like a loon changing water and emptying the pond.
Today I am so tired and feel really breathless. but I am thinking it is either my bra, the heat or the fact that I am shattered.
Moneywise...........I am 4300 pounds in debt.
I used my savings (well part of the loan) to pay off the credit cards - dentist, union fees, plus some spends to take care of the fish and things bought for the garden (Pooky your fault!!)
I really don't feel well.
Got exams to mark. ugh.

What sort of fish were they? We had trouble with golden orfe in our pond many years ago - very aggressive.
Glad you've got Canterbury to look forward to xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -

They were shubunkins, my current working theory is that all the other fish (including one enormous Koi) had grown up together over the last year or so and these two being new just saw the slower fish (fantails) as easy targets. I feel terrible but having kept both types of fish together for years(providing the different types of food and lots of room) and never had anything else like this happen I just think it is freak thing. But the two new fish will be living alone in a 100g tub of some description for the time being. Trying hard not to call it prison
Canterbury will be lovely. Glad I booked it.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -

Goodness how horrific for you and the fish. We have never kept shubunkins but do have 5 now huge golden orfe who live quite happily with goldfish. No koi as we found they grew huge but we did not realise the orfe would grow quite as large as they have. They are like dolphins and jump out of the water which is quite entertaining to watch. On another note we have caught a heron eyeing up our pond early morning twice this week. Lovely graceful bird but we really don't want them fishing in our pond. Surprising because the pond is very close to the house.
Never read your diary before Buffy, probably because you seem to be on top of finances without any need of my advice:rotfl::rotfl:
