    Hmmm.

This week has been a bit of a slap in the face to be honest.

Turns out my sister only gets carers paid for for 6 weeks. And is now forking out over 1000 a month to have carers 3 times a day as that is what a doubly incontinent wheelchair/bed bound man needs.

Also Mum has paid for half the fence. I feel very bad about this. All the problems with the neighbour are with me. Not her. We need the fence because he has a problem with me. I planned the fence, I paid for it, it is my fault. At some point post summer I will most likely pay her back.

The thing about my sister having to pay for carers is a horrible shock, they have always be kinda rich if that makes sense. Not mega rich obviously but that is pretty much gone now as they will have to run their savings down a fair bit and without much income - mind you saying that, I don't actually know too much about their finances..

In other news, other sister has been given 300 quid by Mum, after saying how much money she didn't have. Am not sure if Mum has any money either. I just know I will be happier once the loan is paid off and I am solvent again so I can be of help.

I am back tonight to hating money like I did when I was in big time debt.
I just wrote on Lucky's diary that the trapped crappy feeling you have when you just.don't. have. enough. money. again. sucks.

And it's fine really. I have little pots of money. I just paid my CC, I over paid my loan by 150. However being in debt is really bothering me. Need to make a plan, felt so out of control lately. I need a realistic debt free date....and a way to make more money...

    Jobs for the holiday

    1. Pay union fees(198)
    2. Phone Tax people (still being over taxed)
    3. Move rabbits out side.
    4. Continue to fix up garden.
    5. Clean my room.
    6. Work
    7. Exam marking.
    8. Work a proper budget out.
    9. Sort out my goals. (especially once my room is straight)
    10. Guinea pig housing too!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

For what it's worth, I think you have done the right thing with the fence. No one should be trapped in their house due to that kind of fear, but sometimes you just have to find and execute a solution, which is what you have done. I am not sure why your mum contributing to it upsets you so much - presumably she will benefit from the garden being improved in this way? But I know family relationships with money are difficult - I am not criticising.

Your sister's situation is very difficult but I can see from your diary that you have been helping her out for such a long time under very tricky circumstances. Well done for keeping going. Presumably once they have run down their savings they may be eligible for more financial help? Can you help her with applications and form-filling as a practical way of contributing?

I really hope you have a lovely week off now, out in the garden, recharging and resting and doing some things for you. Take things one step at a time but remember to sit and have a cup of tea or something stronger every now and then, preferably in the garden and enjoying the peace. M100 :)
  • Lots of good advice there. I'd suggest that you consider engaging a tax advisor to get your tax sorted once and for all. Yes, it'd cost but it'd be one less thing to deal with.

I think I felt bad as I organised it all M100, and sort of sprung it on her as a way to deal with neighbour - we had only previously talked about plants- every greens etc to block the view but his last attack on me was whilst Mum was away and I just felt so frightened. And I don't like admitting it. So I arranged and paid for the fence, told her from the off she didn't need to pay anything. I feel she had that money ear marked for something else.

Talked again to Mum re sister and she doesn't think we should worry for them about money.Mum seems to think they are seriously loaded. We are a weird family never really talk about much in detail. So my slap in the face feeling was not necessary!

Today I got up cleaned the fish tanks dyed my hair (! so many greys) and cut my hair (over the sink - so classy) and am feeling better, finally it is half term and I can get on with changing things.

I do keep going out in the garden and staring at the fence! :rotfl: He is cutting his grass today, but not an insult or star in sight ;):)

Today I am off to my friend's house and tomorrow we are going in to London to go to a convention :) I half wish I was just out in the garden but it is a bit warm!

Need to get some shopping, clean out animals and then get a bag together :)

Have a good day everyone :):):)

I was wondering about doing that. Or seeing a Financial advisor....

Great news about the lack of interference from the neighbour! :D I completely understand about not wanting to give in to the fear, but I am very glad you went ahead and did it. You will sort the money out with your mum, I'm sure, but don't waste time feeling bad about it. It is done, and it is a new start for you - enjoy putting that problem to rest now. You sound so much happier about it that it was money worth spending. Well done for getting on and just dealing with it.

I think you should follow your mum's lead about your sister unless and until you find out the situation is different to what you think. Your emotional and practical support has been invaluable, I'm sure - all families are weird when it comes to discussing money.

Hope you had a good day today; I'm going to join the naggers (naggers Maggers?) about the tax situation. Now you have sorted the fence this should be next on your list. Have a great week off - you deserve it.
