  • Really Beanie? He always struck me as a decent enough guy just never thought he had any good songs!!

    Ok..............................................

I moved all my money around today. I have enough to pay for the cc, the car and the summer house.

Mum is already driving me mad. Yesterday I texted on the way home - what shall we do re dinner? I could pick something up from Sainsburys. So she says What were you thinking of? I say I don't know? She says don't worry about it
    I say Ok...

I go to sainsburys, buy a cake each and some breakfast for today.

She says.........but nothing for dinner and rolls her eyes............

I nearly lost my temper but I didn't. I calmly explained that I did text and ask and she could have said something other than don't worry about it.

    And then I cooked dinner.

And currently as I can't sit in my room I am doing my banking and writing in the living room.. so am getting the don't you think you should get on with something looks. Tho that could be my imagination.

This is why this house needs sorting. For some reason if I am "working" in my room she accepts this! Increasingly I realising she is so set in her ways it is too much to expect her change.

Any how to the garden via sorting out Mum's new lampshades! :)
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • When will I learn not to mention things?

    WHEN?

Buffy for God's sake keep your bloody mouth shut.

    Idiot.

So today has been the first day of the holiday where I feel I have wasted the day.

I have put up lampshades, walked the dogs, made lunch, cleaned the hoover, been patronised over something that shouldn't matter but it does. Tried to reason with someone who has a very poor memory and generally been left feeling like !!!!. I was quite resilient yesterday. Today not so much. I quite enjoyed my morning. This afternoon has been rubbish.

I haven't started on the garden, summer house is arriving tomorrow. not been to the tip.

and am now tired. Sorry to whinge. I have such a lot to do and must not be pushed off track. But for now I shall sit by the side of the road for a while. XXX

  • Picked up car, cost 40 quid less than the quote because I have a fab mechanic. so 350 quid.

    I have 2920

    Now it is 2920 - 350 = 2570

    2570 - 225 (car tax) =2345

    2345- 630 (garden- will explain below) =1715

1715 -667 (CC bill for summer house and left over dentist) = 1048

Now.......ideally that should be emergency fund.

Realistically since it is the 1 of August and I don't get paid again till the 31st.... I feel I will be dipping in!! I have about 300 quid which in a normal work month would be fine but this month of socialising and house sorting nope....

At some point I might get a tax rebate......that would be good....

    Just as a reminder

    1. Rabbits out
    2. Garden finished
    3. Bedroom decorated
    4. Spare room cleared
    5. Sheds cleared

Tomorrow up early to fill car to go to the tip.

Am out to dinner in the evening.

    XX

  • Yeah. So Maths and Me.

    Don't get on

my car tax is actually 290.

and now I have paid everything I have 930 pounds left in emergency savings and about 210 to "spend". Paying everything has left me me pretty skint but I can always "borrow" from myself.

Any how current state of play - no CC bill, loan 3994, savings 930 for emergencies, 400 for Christmas, 50 for next summer, 180 for car insurance/tax etc.

So really I am feeling very lucky.

Looking good. Isn't it a nice feeling to be able to borrow from ourselves now instead of always the bank?

Lots of love right back, I think yesterday was a bit hard. It is weird, you think you have it all sorted and then the same pattern emerges and smacks you in the face.

No face smacking today tho. But I was really ill this morning, think it might have been my end of term collapse. or food poisoning or IBS. Take your pick. Went back to bed for 4 hours! Not great.

Now for some good news! The builder who is putting up the summer house is coming on Monday and Tuesday to do it. :):):):) It was accidentally delivered early and luckily he can fit us in :)

This means I have 3 days to sort the very back of garden! From tomorrow :):)

Which is good as am out to dinner tonight.

hope all is well with folks XXXXX

I think what you are going through after term has finished is just the same as it has always been. My father retired almost 40 years ago (when it wasn't quite so stressful) & my mother used to write off the first week after he broke up, whilst he had every cold & sore throat etc that he hadn't actually given in to during term time. When my sister started teaching she was exactly the same.

So it definitely isn't just you. I suspect a lot of your co-workers are going through similar but don't want to admit it. My sister retired almost 20 years ago & she said then it was getting much much worse. Anyone going into it thinking about how many working weeks & short working days is in for a very nasty shock.
