Is working at McDs something you would do?

I don't know why people don't like working in the food trade.
I loved it, and, to be fair, I wouldn't necessarily enjoy working at a McDonald's Outlet, but I can think of far worse jobs.
I have applied twice to McDonald's, twice to Tesco (am just putting in my third application) and once to ALDI, but so far have either been rejected (twice from Tesco) or, as in the case of McD and ALDI never even heard back.
These applicatioins have been in addition to my applications for professional jobs, which would make full use of my qualifications/experience.
I have been unemployed since September 2006 - I recieve NO unemployment benefit, job seeker's allowance or any other state benefit whatsoever.
I am trying to get back into the business that I had, prior to my bankruptcy, but have, so far, been unsuccessful in finding the necessary financial backing.
At the moment, therefore, the ONLY income in our house is that earnt by my wife, who is a nurse at the local hospital, which is scheduled for closure at the end of this month - Thanks Tony.
So yes - I would be quite happy doing a job at McDonald's or similar - trouble is, they obviously don't seem very happy to employ me.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

OMG he could be my brother, apart from the age!
He has his own recording studio in his bedroom where he plays for hours. He has never actually sent any recordings to anyone or played in a band. I think he's hoping that some record company big wig will walk past my parents house and hear the sounds of his guitar playing out his bedroom window, the big wig will then break down my parents front door and drag the undiscovered rock god that he is off to the recording studio - yeah right!Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.

Good luck rog2 - you sound like you might be overqualified for McD's - but it would be nice if they would at least let *you* decide if that was the case wouldn't it? If you didn't want the job you wouldn't be applying after all.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

They're probably worried that I would eat all the profits. :rotfl: :rotfl:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I think if you have a family you will do anything to ensure a roof over their heads and food on the table. It is a bit different if you have no responsibilities. On the other hand I would say that the getting stoned is a major part of the OPs bf brothers problem. Getting off the drugs will clear his mind and give him more energy etc. So hopefully he will grow up and off it soon.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Oh Gems, it must be really difficult to stay quiet!! It looks like we all think along the same lines (but then we would, being on this forum). Dunno about the rest of you, but I'm off to apply for a job in MacDonalds. Looks about £10k a year that what I get now ;-)
PS I blame the mother. If you dont bring your kids up with any values what do you expect? Presumably she has no problem with his lifestyle choices? Anyone got any ideas about what DD could do for a pt job? She's just turned 14 and desperate for a job!!0 -
skintscotslass: Not sure if shops can legally take on under 16 year olds now? But if not I can only think of things like dog walking, cleaning, cleaning cars, paper round, delivering leaflets maybe.
Has she got anything that people could EBAY/Amazon for her? Or could you help her with a car boot sale (if they are still going in October) to make a bit of cash?
If I think of any thing else I will post!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.

Does his mother pay for his drugs? She is either very naive not to notice or happy to subsidise his habit....0
