That reminds me of a definition I once read (source forgotten):

Clutter is the stuff you throw away
Stuff is the clutter you keep

First day back at work today and started off with dropping a small coffee table I used to stand the Christmas tree on at the CS. I have 360 something days to find something else to stand it on!

I use the box that I store most of my Christmas stuff in 50 weeks of the years - I turn it upside down and cover with a bright red tablecloth and then plonk the tree on that :)

The boxes in question are very sturdy stackable retail stock boxes ... ahem, half inched by my father donkeys years ago. They are referred to as Boots boxes in our family as they have the logo of a famous chain of chemists on the side ...

I've been at home all day so I have been going through my house again looking for clutter.:p

I had moved around some of the furniture in my living room when the Christmas tree was up so we moved it back the way it was before.

Old scrubbing brush binned. I found some old flannels in the cleaning cupboard that I meant to use to clean the floors so will use them in the next month.

I want to simplify my "beauty" regime, such as it is,:D so I am using up two of my moisturisers and so I will just have the other one for everyday use.

I went through all my paper books I haven't read and will read them so I can donate to a CS/ give away and just keep a couple.

I looked at my kindle and deleted a few books I have no interest in reading.

I have a new laptop so I went through my bookmarks on my old laptop and deleted lots that I don't need.

I bought some new reusable bags so I will get rid of the old plastic bags in my next Ocado order as they exchange and recycle. I am going to ask them not to bring plastic bags as well as I keep forgetting to do tick the box when I make an order! The only thing is that I feel guilty about the delivery driver as it will obviously take longer without bags.

I'm going to read another chapter of one of my books and light the Christmas candle I was given and relax.:)

Our tree goes into a log with a hole drilled in it. Nice and stable and the log lives in the garage during the year. Just the right height for a stool when DH is chopping kindling. Nothing gone out today but did buy two rolls of wrapping paper at half price. Neutral design to use on presents during the year.

 OMG, that is so spooky, I was just about to post about the silver birch log (with a hole drilled in it) which supports the parental Christmas tree.

The tree was originally about 7 ft tall and came from wonderful Woolies back in the day. As their home grew more cluttery, there wasn't enough floor space to stand it, do we tended to only use the top section (about 3 ft tall). As it didn't have a stand, Mum wombled a section of silver birch trunk, about 8 inches tall and five inches in diameter, with the bark still on. She drilled a hole in the top and it supports the tree wonderfully and the bark looks beautiful.

Other than the twelve days of Christmas, it lives in her workshop shed and had therefore not dried out and lost its lovely bark, it's very much a fixture at Christmas time.
