Happy new year friends. Kaz - sorry to hear about your car. Hope the insurance process is quick and painless.
I've made a start today. 5 items into the rag bag and 1 into the CS bag.
I put a few book barcodes into ziffit out of curiosity and if I can convince DH to part with a few of his books that were read and then resigned to the bookshelf I think I can probably get enough pennies to be able to submit an order. This is likely to take a week or two... I need to plant the seed in his mind and then gently warm him up to the idea. Easily shocked by KMing, husband types :rotfl:
I'm also adopting the 'project pan' principle from the toiletries thread. I'm fed up of all the part used bottles hanging around so am on a conscious drive to use up and get shot. I am also doing the same with our tea and coffee cupboard, which runneth over. Most of it was tea gifted to me with good intentions. Lots of it isn't tea I wouldn't buy myself of choice and so it has lingered and bred. No more! Even just 1 'alternative' brew a day will soon see a dent in the stash.
Now to kondo some marking...know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Kaz glad to hear that you are all okay - just read about it on the Beeb site and it looked awful!Must use my stash up!0

Trees down and all decs away. Got rid of more decs so freed up 2 plastic boxes. Had hoped to free up more but some things are just plain bulky plus I have been able to store some smaller boxes that had lain around into larger boxes so the dec corner in the attic is definitely better.
As I had thought and maybe mentioned on here, I have put the few decs from the pink tree into the box storing the pink tree and the decs from the metal tree into its box too. The green tree decs are the memory/sentimental ones and there are too many that needed special wrapping so they have their own boxes but this will make it so easy next year. This was a light bulb moment from wondering why each year do I take 2 baubles out of this box of 12 and 4 baubles out of this box of 20, 1 dangley thing out of this box of 3 etc etc and then fiddlydiddly store them all back in the correct boxes again and subsequently store them all year long just to use the same 2 baubles etc next year. As someone on here said, my house is not a warehouse. So all the duplicates are out and I now only have kept the ones we actually use every year. Quicky squashed the idea "oh but what if something breaks, better keep some extra" by reminding myself most of it is plastic or fluffy so unlikely to break and if it does, guess what...... the stores are likely to be selling something I like equally well for a few quid. My taste runs to clare's accessories and matalan, not faberge eggs and cartier
Wishing all a happy, peaceful and successful year. Hugs to those that need them, it can be a hard time of year I know, I find the positivity on this thread amazing as we all go through life events hard and wonderful alike

I started yesterday on the task of emptying the kitchen, ready to take it all out etc. I did the 'easy' task of emptying a cupboard which has boxed crystal glassware in. I have previously ebayed the sherry glasses from the set (Waterford, now discontinued) - only bought because I wanted the whole set of items.....:o I had planned on ebaying the decanter (again bought because I wanted everything in the set) - never used, not sure ever unwrapped other than to look at). However, after unwrapping it, both OH and I decided that it is a beautiful item which brings joy in its simplicity and beauty and even if we haven't used it, we didn't want to get rid of it. Bit of a 'fail' but other stuff will be released as the kitchen is emptied

I want to try and find a suitable exercise in 2018. I was thinking about Tai Chi and I know there is a class a bus ride away.
Is it hard to learn?:o I would be going on my own and would feel silly if it is difficult.
I started Taoist Tai Chi in September. There are different sorts I think, this just happened to be the one taught in a convenient location to me. They run open events so you can go along and give it a try before committing. I go on my own. Everybody was very friendly, most people are 40+, there are a lot of retirees. You're just copying the moves the teachers show you. It's been very non-judgemental, we all make mistakes, it doesn't matter, the class teachers don't point out individual people and say you're doing it wrong. Occasionally they spot things and will emphasise a particular move to the whole class to help us improve, without pointing out who was doing it wrong. From January we go from Beginners into a Continuing class, my understanding is that there will be more emphasis on the techniques of particular moves.

I went through the food cupboards and saw what we need to use up. I have put all the tins down in the lower cupboard so I can actually see what is there and then the pasta, rice, lentils in the higher ones, but in containers so they are easier to see and reach for.
Packaging into the recycling bin.
I have lots of tins of soup. I think that is because I was very ill with this flu bug last year so I relied on them for quick meals. I don't need to have so many so I will try and use up one or two a week.
I found another three items of clothing for the chazzer. One long brown cardigan that makes me look very odd.:oA blue lacy vest top that is nice, but doesn't spark joy, so someone else might want it and a red long sleeve top that has a weird gathered bit on the stomach area. I will take it this week sometime. It will be a test as I'm not supposed to be buying clothes in 2018.
I was thinking that if I saw a black jumper there it could take the place of the one that had a rip in it, so it isn't really cheating if I bought it as such.:rotfl:
I threw away another reusable bag with a long rip that I hadn't noticed. They don't seem to last if you wash them which defeats the purpose. I wish I could remember what shop I got that Union Jack bag from as that one lasted ages!I started Taoist Tai Chi in September. Thanks for info, sounds interesting. I imagined it would be an older crowd which seems less intimidating. I mean, older, as in my age or older.:)0 -
Yes it was in the arena car park, Liverpool , last night - I'm just hoping that the fire was last night, so still in 2017, hoping 2018 will be a brighter one all round.
Cars can be replaced.
I am now back at my flat, having driven the family motor up here with Dad as the passenger. Nice chance to practise my driving and we did the Stuff Shuttle - I now have a lot of their books to get to chazzers in the next couple of weeks. I shall take a bag of Stuff to work and drop it off at a chazzer on the way home. They also have some bits & bobs which I wombled for them - after discussion to check they were wanted at their end.
I left the parental homestead at sixes and sevens due to kid bruv's sorting out of the book stash. The recycling bin was emptied on Weds last week and has to go two weeks, and is already almost full. The general refuse bin is three-quarters full but only has to go two more days. It's evidence of considerable clearing out as their household normally only produces one bin-bag of refuse per fortnight.
Mum has also made a decision about a big and relatively expensive item which she will realistically not be able to use again. This will be offered for sale in spring/ summer as is appropriate to that season. End of an era and all that, but I'm glad she's come to the decision of her own accord as it's something I regard as 'hands off' in terms of even discussing it.
Feels a bit strange to be back at home after ten days' absence, and Stuff is every which way, but that will serve as impetus to get it out to the chazzers asap. Getting the books out of the parental homestead will be a multi-week undertaking, but they need the space, so are going to be motivated to do the work, too.
Hope everyone is enjoying the first day of the new year. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh for those with artificial xmas trees still up, i keep seeing photos on pinterest of trees with decs on all wrapped up in clingfilm ready to be stored as they are so no decs being removed. Only any good if theres room somewhere to store the tree fully assembled though.
That's a good idea.We would do that if we had the space. It would save the trouble of untangling the fairy lights every year!:D

Oh I wouldn't like that. I enjoy handling the decorations we've bought from all sorts of places, they bring back happy memories. Plus even if it was wrapped in film I can't imagine that everything stays hanging on the tree.Make £2025 in 2025
