I have to say that is where having a loft bedroom comes in handy. For at least a decade we have wrapped our decorated Christmas tree in black binbags and carted it fully decorated up to the bedroom, where it sits happily out of the way until the next year. I have taken off all the decorations twice, once to replace a set of lights, once because a branch fell off and needed major surgery. It is so easy to set it up and take down. Binbags are good enough for me, I can't afford too much cling film. I keep saying I'm buying a new one but this old one still looks good, so it's off upstairs again at the end of the week. Happy New Year everyone, I hope this year is good for you.

Why not use it for drinking water at meals? Decanters don't have to be limited to wine...

Good idea - will consider that when all the work has been finished :)

Have identified that I need to empty my narrow pull out larder cupboard and have a reorganise and clean - I'm sure there's a few things lurking that are past their SBD or worse!!
My tree decorations are stored in a nice box that I got years ago from liddly. I have quite a few old ornaments that have come from different parts of the world or have been handed down so they are precious and I love decorating the tree each year - it's part of the run up to Christmas for me.
DS1 has his 50th birthday on Saturday so I need to have a search for lots of embarrassing photos ;) I'll probably do a mini kondo while I'm at it.
I'm trying to use my mum's mantra too - don't put down, put it away!!!

I've lapsed a bit recently and going to restart my kondoing journey this year as I'm finding things that got missed on the first sweep

Oh for those with artificial xmas trees still up, i keep seeing photos on pinterest of trees with decs on all wrapped up in clingfilm ready to be stored as they are so no decs being removed. Only any good if theres room somewhere to store the tree fully assembled though.

I have a friend who puts an old duvet cover over hers and moves it to the spare room until needed again - brings it out, makes a few adjustments and then plugs it in.........takes minutes:rotfl:

Have to admit we like a real tree and enjoy the whole process of choosing, bringing it in, making adjustments by pruning and then putting on the decorations which was made sooo much easier this time as the year before I was determined to have a good cull of accumulated carp and box it all up neatly and in categories!

We tend to leave the tree up until 12th Night as we have a birthday in the household just before then and things look a bit bare....however this year its coming down today....we have a very poorly cat with dementia/some sort of brain problem and he managed to get himself caught up in the low slung lights and pull the tree down in the night:( So I am taking it down to day. I will cut off as many branches as possible and feed straight into the log burner - bit chilly today !

That was always the way I started the new year - a good old clear out of the filing cabinet on NYE.....this year I went to do it and guess what??? There was nothing to do cos I have been 'on it' all year and hadnt even noticed:D I guess now its just become habit to deal with it as it comes in the house...............OH on the other hand:mad::mad:

The process of getting a real tree, and the tree itself, both bring you joy :j:j:j

Poor moggie :( so sorry to hear this.

I haven't really been kondoing over the holidays, just sorting and tidying, which I suppose is part of the process. Kondoed a *lot* of dust from under a double bed just now :)

Woop Woop - have sold my canteen of cutlery!! Packed up and on its way today!! It was beautiful but so rarely used and the lady buying it wants it as a wedding present so hopefully it will be going to a good home and be used.
