  • Bless you, well done!

Blowing an absolute Hoolie outside at the moment, with lashings of rain thrown in for entertainment, I'm going to bed to read. Just watched Gloucester play Agen on the telly and the weather up there is just as dire, deary me the UK isn't where you go for sunshine is it? Night all, sleep well xxx.

You are definitely sounding more chirpy Fuddle - keep warm and cozy in your lovely home :)

Miserable here too - sleety rain and a bit windy and was getting dark by the time I got home at 6. I left the office early and I'm glad I did, the trains were very busy. It's the end of the school holidays here so lots of families out and about.

I like the sound of your plan Polyanna - keep me posted on the skirt. I like the look of the Brora clothing.

Working from home tomorrow so looking forward to porridge with a spoonful of syrup and some raspberries for breakfast. I've just made a mug of "sugar cookie sleigh ride" tea which smells wonderful. I bring all sorts of flavoured tea bags home from the US but by this time of year I need to ration them to make them last until the next trip after Christmas. I'm off to see what rubbish is on TV now - or I may just settle down with the daily paper and the crossword instead.

Well the day started with a doctors visit. It seems it's ok to bring up clear mucus after bronchitis. Tell that to my worried self trying to get past reception without an emergency but I had to push just incase. I've also got meds for acid reflux as we're not poo pooing the idea that I'm aspiring stomach acid. The plan is to get on on even keel and stronger then more investigative work.

I then called at the library to pick up books on nutrition so I've been reading with my feet up most of the day.

It's now half term so a week of relaxing is on the cards for me but DH has got bark in the car so we're going to do a little more of the front garden before the winds come tomorrow.

You know, this OS stuff does have its drawbacks. I have been on leave this week and have made, in three separate batches, a total of eleven jars of crab apple jelly, some of which will be given away as presents for that festival whose name beginning with C shall not be mentioned.

We will still have 6 or 7 jars in the cupboard for our own use, so will be eating it for the next 2 or 3 years ( not big jam eaters in our house ).

So, what’s my problem, you may ask?

I have just been out into the back garden. That blasted crab apple tree still has about three quarters of its fruit on it. I am now feeling guilty I haven’t stripped it bare. I am trying to convince myself that I am leaving the fruits for the birds.

Oh nargle. Waste! the shameful thoughts of not utilising every miniscule of usefulness out of anything. I've felt that. I also understand you trying to justify leaving them be. You've made me laugh with your affliction :rotfl:

I think Lyn puts crap apple jelly in her stews if I remember rightly. It might lessen shelf space quicker so you can make more. Oh I am evil :D:rotfl:

    Crab apple, not crap. Sorry.
  • Oh yes I do and redcurrant jelly too particularly good with lamb that one is and with pork/sausage/ham for the crab apple. I put a tablespoon into the stock to help make a really nice gravy/sauce in the finished casserole. I've put blackberry jelly and damson jam into beef stews/casseroles successfully too. Not too much so you don't get a sweet tasting sauce but a tablespoon just lifts the flavour and gives it depth!

Someone told me that the more I use this darn tablet the more it gets used to my typing foibles. It's all a lie. I never use the word cr*p.

DH did the hard work in the garden this morning. I was foreman :D we still need 3 bags of bark but it's ready to be planted and all I now need to do it potter. I have a plan in that I would like shrubs to mature into a little secret garden in the middle with my table and chair for a morning cuppa, hiding me away from the masses at the bus stop over my foot high stone wall. I'm patient, thank goodness. :rotfl:
  • Very wild outside at the moment and when it rains, by does it rain! We popped out to Home Bargains this morning for some shampoo for He Who Knows as it's much cheaper there than at the pharmacy and a few bits and pieces for me. Just put up two racks of coat type hooks in the spare rooms rather than keep the battered old wardrobes, makes the rooms look so much bigger and I've also top to bottom cleaned the bathroom and the utility room. Kitchen tomorrow, house on Monday and hopefully valuation on Tuesday. The garden is taking a battering from all the wind so I'm glad the grass was cut on Friday, we'll just have to do a tidy up and clear all the leaves that are coming down today. I think it's probably wilder up country and in the North so I hope all of you are hunkered down and warm and safe, look after yourselves xxx.
  • Just had a call from Ruthie, Orley is in hospital and likely to be IV antibiotics for 48 hours. They are staying with friends near London for the weekend and he was poorly yesterday and it got worse in the evening so they took him to A & E with bronchiolitis and a rash on his lower limbs poor lammie! Ru obviously concerned as are we but he's definitely in the right place and will get the treatment he needs. It might be a bit of a fragmented week as we will possibly have to split and I will go and Zebra sit while he Who Knows goes to get the baby and his Mum and bring them home. If I go missing it's because of that and I'll be back when it's all over and sorted, good vibes to Orley please if you can? Thanks xxx.
