Certainly am atm, thanks. Had my first cataract op last week so will eventually have much better vision, and, and....new kitten came home today and it feels as if he's always been here :) He's "paddling" on my lap and is considering doing a bit of typing, i think.....

Great news on the op, and even better news on the kitten.I have a six month old Grandkitten. He's adorable, but has ousted the older cat out of the house, poor thing

  • Morning.. not sure where the last couple of weeks went! Settling into the new job, it’s almost been too quiet but students start in a couple of weeks so it will get busy then!

I know the ‘home’ feeling too, for me it’s the coastal town I’ve lived most of my life in (tho not born here I’ve been here since I was 3). Relocated to a neighbouring county for 18 months for work about 5/6 years ago but just did not settle and the relief I felt on moving back was immense. My ideal is to live within sight & sound of the sea eventually.

Ivyleaf, a new kitten, how lovely. Hope he/she has settled well. I am catless for the first time in years and although keep looking at rescues, don’t know my work situation next year (may have to do locum work which would most likely mean being away in the week) so sensible not to make the commitment at the moment.

Glad Mrs LW & HWK are in and settling :)
NurseMaggie, fingers crossed that you get a new home that is right for you soon as well.

I know there was more I was going to comment on, it’s just gone out of my brain currently. I may return to edit :)

A slightly later start today as I have a meeting in Brighton first but not till 10.30. So still lounging in bed on a Monday morning, what a luxury!
Have a good day all. X

Hey burtha! We have not only missed you, we've been very worried about you. Guessed that something pretty dire had happened but great to hear from you again.
Just a word now and again will stop us getting our knickers in a twist.

A bit of mild housework is called for today but not too strenuous please.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

I just want to read books and be emotionally crippled by the deaths of fake people who never existed.
Is that too much to ask?

Oh no, poor Puddy :( That's really sad. This is the first time we've had a kitten when there wasn't already an adult cat in the house, but our last cat actually moved himself in with us (the second one who'd done that) - we were his 5th home in the neighbourhood and he just used to find himself a new home if he was unhappy. He was quite old by the time he came to us, and we turned out to be his "forever home". He's no longer with us, but I'm sure if we'd had the temerity to bring a new kitten into the house he would have moved out sharpish!

burtha, it is so good to see you! :j Welcome back! I hope you feel able to stay now that you're back. We've been worried about you and you have been in our thoughts xxxx

Hiya Squiggly! Good to "see" you. It's a but of a long story, but basically the household the kitten came from had an adult cat already, and decided they would like just one kitten as well, but due to a misunderstanding they ended with two. It was a friend of DS, and he asked a bit desperately whether DS knew anyone who wanted a kitten, and after some thought I said we'd have him. He's a dear little chap, very sociable, and he and I seem to communicate well. He's settled in very quickly, though he won't be impressed when he's taken to the vet for his jabs and microchipping
