Thanks softstuff I knew someone got them I think a couple of lurkers have them too. Mine will be because my tumour was so huge they had to take away a lot of my stomach, so he thinks I'm not producing enough of the intrinsic factor. I think it explains the feeling I can barely move because both brakes are fully on and I can't switch them off.

I am hoping my family will stop walking ahead of me and waiting impatiently for me. GDS is the only one who stays with me because he knows he will have to wait a long time to see me again. I'm also hoping to get rid of a lot of my nerve pain. I may even manage to get about and visit more places.

Past 40 and the amount of intrinsic factor you can reduce decreases too. Then factor in PPI's for many people and chances are they'll be b12 deficient. And what the UK and Australia classes as "fine" would be quite deficient in Japan where they take it more seriously too... so if you're deficient in the UK or Australia you're through the floor! Are they going to give you loading doses NM? You can get a kickstart by buying some sublingual B12 and pop one under your tongue a couple of times a day. You can't overdose on it, you just pee out excess, but if you're short you need to get a large quantity in one way or another.

I felt as though I was wading through treacle without, then the nerve problems started (couldn't feel my fingertips properly), now I'm all good, so I wish you the same xx

Softstuff this country is going to be Victorian Britain all over again if we don't all stand up and tell the govt we won't take any more. The NHS is being trimmed and snipped and dissolved slowly and secretly and nobody seems to be able to do anything about it! The ranges on tests are being silently changed, the range of meds available are being secretly cut, and it's a downward spiral. I feel so sorry for poor folk who are having to drag themselves through life feeling half dead and have to go to work.
I'll go away for tea and a biscuit now to calm down lol

Good points Mardatha. I know that I'm due my specialist appointment which used to come regularly but I've heard nothing. So fed up with being in pain, so I've made an appointment with the GP on Wednesday.
Spend less now, work less later.

Mardatha, it wouldn't calm you any to know that standard where I am is monthly injections, not once every 3 months. And my doc was so helpful, not wanting me to have to visit the surgery each time, that he taught me how to give myself intramuscular injections and helped me find supplies. Now if i'm feeling short at 3 weeks rather than 4, I just do it. All for about 3 quid a shot.

The RV had to argue with the gp to get his done monthly, and every time he sees a strange nurse or a locum he gets told no you aren't due for another month and has to argue again. And on the PA groups I read so many people in absolute misery its unreal. A lot do self-inject, but you have to buy B12 from Germany. Mad!
  • My daughter is in the same boat with b12 injections - only allowed one every 10 weeks, and by 4 to 6 weeks she is down to no energy whatsoever. The GP will not do any more.

    Savings goal £30,000 1% = £300.

Well said Mar . Some here may be aware I've been involved with campaigning for years to preserve the welfare state once the envy of the world . It no longer comes down to politics as what started hopefully has left us with a leader of the opposition who sadly is not the voice we hoped for and is not effective when it comes to challenging a deliberate dismantling of the safety net from the cradle to the grave .
I wish John Smith had lived , things could have been different .
We are in contact every week with hospitals and doctors due to my dds poor health and have watched the slices being cut from the NHS cake one by one and sold off to the wealthy who run all sorts of companies and send their wealth offshore .
Mar you're right if people don't challenge what's happening the roller coaster will continue until we're way back in the dark times .
If someone has a decent pension scheme , savings etc it doesn't mean that will not change or guarantee security in the future .
As I've done before I will quote Terry P " Open your eyes then open your eyes again "
Still got my knitting to hand Mar !

In that boat, I'd order some and self inject, but I'm militant and needy :rotfl: We tested my blood 6 weeks after an injection and levels had gone through the floor. No way would I go back to that feeling. Self injecting isn't without some risk and some nerve needed, but it isn't rocket science either. I'm amazed more GP's don't just show patients how, after all, it reduces their appointments.

I've missed pages and pages but just want to say you should feel like a new woman NM once the treatment kicks in . Good luck with the divorce paperwork probably the last thing you need at the moment .

I've still got my knitting but not getting much done. I keep dropping the empty needle at the end of every row.
