Thriftmonster all you do with a cat is take her home, say "Here is your toilet; here is your dinner" and go away and leave them to it. Within a month the cat will be running the whole house - sleeping on the best chairs, crooking a wee paw and getting a slave to run and fetch anything she wants, and you'll trek through hell/high water/snow drifts to get Dreamies when you run out :D
  • I'm expecting a cat visitor at some point, we are moored near the boat that the Pirate cat lives on. The cat is very friendly and affectionate. The cat also expects every boat owner to provide food/shelter on demand!

    Speaking of cats...

I was visiting a friend last week and as I left I walked out of her front gate and the neighbour's small cat scooted along the footpath towards me, calling out a hello. When she reached me she looked up, realised I wasn't who she expected to see at number 41 and scudded to a halt. I spoke to her, explaining that I was a visiting our friend and she meowed again, snuggled against me then rolled over for a tickle. We seem to be firm friends now!
She is a tiny Siamese of delicate toffee colour and is soooooo cute :)
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • Thank you Mardartha - I feel better now. Just hoping the collie and the cat get on ok but they have said the cat will be fine with a dog and the dog gets on fine with my sister's cat once he gets over the curiosity. Am roasting a chicken tonight so when they have both has a bit of skin I'm sure they'll be fine

Thriftmonster I can't help with cat advice, I'm very much a dog person, but I just want to wish you all the best with your new [STRIKE]slave-owner[/STRIKE] friend, and good on you for offering a rescue kitty a forever home.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

The cat will be the boss. Any house with a dog and cat in it, the cat won't rest until she is The Boss. It's funny to watch :)
  • Morning, thriftmonster, how exciting for you :j
I am currently (for the first time in many years) catless. I had to have my adorable quirky rescue who I had for 8 years PTS last November (think she was about 13/14) and the other cat which is officially DD2s has gone to live with her friend while dd2 is in Australia for a year or so. Mainly because I may still end up working away from home although it looks like the new job may be extending from 6 months to 10 to complete the academic year. Fine by me :D

DD1 is here this weekend, making some of her fantastic vegan donuts later and we are also going to make butternut squash lasagne. I had it once before with her and it is scrumptious.
This morning while she is out catching up with dd3 and a friend I am getting the laptop out to get my budgeting back on track and need to sort a 0% balance transfer out too.
Oh and it is the last day of our air show so the Red Arrows and many other planes will be buzzing about from lunchtime, weather depending.

    Have a good day all.

We had to have our little rescue dog PTS a few months ago. Not sad about it as we got him when he was about twelve and he had a brilliant two and a half years with us. I'm not physically fit enough yet to have another dog :(

Would love a cat but I'm allergic to them. The house feels strange without a little creature about.

Man child does not count :D
Not dim ;) .....just living in soft focus :p

Vegpatch My son is 33, he's definitely a manchild when he's at home, but probably not when he's at work :D
