My last chick went back to school yesterday.
It's so strange just having one school uniform to buy! Saying that all the stuff is now man-sized and a lot more expensive.
Onwards and upwards, the new students start on the 28th August. Exciting times ahead

Wow, Friday tomorrow - where did that week go?!
Congratulations to those who got the results they hoped for and totally agree, there are always options for those who didnt. I was able to listen in and chat to our admissions tutor taking those clearing calls today which was interesting, and will be interviewing many of those prospective students on Monday !!!55357;!!!56898;
VegPatch, I!!!8217;m getting back into sewing myself some simple dresses but have done outfits for my nieces plus some simple curtains & cushion covers. Also a fake blind for my mums kitchen window. I find it therapeutic getting absorbed in it. [B/]

Only because many of you seem to know each other so well as you have been posting for a long time. I have lurked for years but still can't remember everyone's situation. It's given me a headache so I think best thing would be for me to ask questions as I go along if that's ok?
Catch ya later
I wonder if it might be nice if we had a series of questions for each of us (with no obligation to answer) that maybe we could keep somewhere for folk who were curious? Kind of a Fencers wiki. This might also help with those who are more memory challenged
I got on a small (but a few hours duration) flight once as a vegetarian more than 25 years ago, and they'd forgotten my special meal. Every aspect of the main meal other than the bread roll contained meat! The flight crew got together and found me a chocolate bar from a stewards handbag and I got the pilots fruit salad :rotfl:
Doveling, just when you think he's gone, he'll be back. With laundry. And possibly friends. And their laundry. :rotfl:
WMF, I can't find that recipe either now. Though, if I was making a chickpea curry, this is what I'd do, so I'd assume it would be the same as I did then!
1 x tin of chickpeas
1 x tin of tomatoes
1 chopped onion
half a cup of peas (or a few cubes chopped carrot or potato or some spinach)
3 cloves garlic
1 tsp ground ginger, 2 tsp ground cumin, 2 tsp ground coriander, 2 tsp ground cardomom, 1 tsp chilli, 2 tsp garam masala
2 tbsp cream or coconut cream.
Fry the onion, spices, garlic and ginger in oil until it looks translucent, add the chickpeas, tomatoes and peas, cook for about 10 mins, stir in the cream and serve.
If anyone particularly likes indian food I can recommend Rick Steins India as a book. I've found that I can substitute different meats or veg with a lot of his sauces and once I got a storecupboard of spices, nothing was all that hard. I particularly like his lamb dopiaza, easiest recipe ever.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
First day DB was home went ok, CA came and got him up, showered and dressed him. A couple of rests and he managed to stay up until 10pm. Slept ok but was dreaming, he is a restless dreamer so I was awake for quite a while.
CA due between 8 - 9 am. No sign of her as yet, its almost 9 am, guess this is shades of things to come. We have decided not to have a visit on Sunday, will have to find a way of getting his legs dry etc without either of us bending. Hmmmmmmm..............could be interesting.0 -
Csarina, at the risk of me sounding like I am a disgusting slob..... one doesn't need to wet every bit of one's body every day. Maybe a strip wash of the vital places would be safer and more comfortable for you both on Sunday? Hope you don't mind me sticking my two pen' 'orth in.
Otherwise, placing a large towel on his chair so it reaches from seat to floor means he could sit on it, wrap the towel round his lower legs and this would remove most of the water. I"d worry about feet not getting dried thoroughly though, there by lies potential problems.
Wishing you both well MxxI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -

He is only having a shower every other day, in between its a strip wash. He has a chair for the shower and uses it at the wash basin. The problem with sunday is washing his feet and legs, because of his vertigo he cannot bend down even in a chair he just falls forward. I cannot bend because I injured my back trying to get him up a few weeks ago, cannot kneel down either, arthritis in my knees. Am investigating a scrubber on a stick to wash his feet and legs when the CA does not come. Have sussed drying them, he can sit on the bed with his legs up and his feet on my knee.
We have the CA free for 4 weeks then we have to pay according to our means...... it will be continuing........so we have to be assessed.0 -

Csarina, that sound eminently sensible! Best wishes to both of you. Hope your back eases soon. My mum was told to ring for paramedics to lift my dad up when he kept fainting, assume your medics should be advising the same, but appreciate that this is not always the answer. Tinydancer wrote: »Thank you so much THRIFTMONSTER.......sounds scrummy. Can I just ask, how much curry powder? I know it's to taste but my other problem is that I have no sense of smell, which in turn affects my taste!!
DH laughs and says there's no point buying expensive wine as I can't taste it anyway!!
Ummmm - this was a sort of lob it all in dish but for what I think would have been 2-3 portions (1 pack of MW rice) I think I used about 2-3 heaped tsps of MrM's hot curry powder. As long as you cooked it out you could add more later of some chilli sauce etc - so maybe err on the side of caution to start with.
Took ds2 out for a celebratory meal last night with the dementor/ nsdh last night. Was going to be good and have a salad but ended up with a delish plaice, chips and peas for 2meals for £10.99.This is a local pub rather then a chain but really good food.
Off to the RSPCA to collect the cat this morning - really excited. Could be looking for cat advice OS though - I wandered over to the pets' board and scared myself rigid (and I've had dogs all my life!)
Hope everyone has a good day“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”
