Mar whats that saying "don't bite the hand that feeds you ". I think in this case the ferret thought DD's hand was the food. Bet the poor thing was petrified of her. She got a ferret rescuer to collect it and has now traced down the owner, who has a bit of a menagerie in his back garden including hawks and several dogs ( it's only a small end of terrace  ).
PS by the way, don't camels come from hot countries, deserts in fact ? I don't think they would really be over heated, but I will keep quiet for a few ahem .....steaks :rotfl:

Well it was a menopausal camel. It was overheating!
I once found a ferret under our shed, and another time was walking along the road to post a letter and poor wee ferret came running full belt towards me. I knelt down and spoke to her, but she kept on running by, dont know what the problem was there and hope she hadn't lost her kits.

Oh nannywindow, your poor DD! They do say that no good deed goes unpunished......

nursemaggie May you have a nice new home very soon ((HUGS))

As for you mar, Words Fail Me. And I'm sure Mr Ivyleaf would agree that that doesn't happen very often. Poor Humphrey!
Still....no point crying over spilt milk, or a frozen camel. Please put me down for two steaks. Or have a BBQ and we'll all come :j

He can come for a holiday when we've taken possession of the new house, there's enough room for an antipodean Heffalump and I'll make sure there's a goodly supply of currant buns for him!

He's sulking a little now. I'd promised him at least 1 solicitor to trample. And after what happened with the camel, I might keep him here for a while, he likes his kale suit, he feels safer.

Mardatha, a camel is as likely to wander into a freezer for a cool down as you are likely to head into a restaurant signed "Eat as much kale as you like". And I suppose he sliced himself into steaks and roast portions first??

MMF, you're not in an earthquake zone really, you'll be fine ;)

Last night I got all over enthusiastic and painted a couple of furniture items in varnish stripper... knowing full well that the removal of the aforementioned stripper is a pain in the bum cheeks, takes a very long time and I'd then be forced to do that today. So I shall, cursing. No-one says all reno work has to be joyful. Much like going to the gym, which I shall also do today. I told my trainer, if he's expecting joyful enthusiasm, he may be disappointed, but I have an endless reserve of cursing determination.

Islandmaid, I've seen systems like that, they are incredibly reliant on heaps of water though. Worth setting up some sort of drip system whilst being built IMO.

Phew! I thought for a moment there that it was our Humphrey that was travelling down mar's gullet. Obviously it was some other unfortunate camel that got too close to mar's freezer. I mean to say, you can't have a menopausal Humphrey, can you? Unless of course he was going through a mid life crisis, in which case he would be wearing a toupee, buying a sports car and trying to seduce his secretary.

Oh softstuff. I know all about having these inspirations and starting off in a burst of enthusiasm only to wind down later thinking, "Why did I ever think this was a good idea?"

Lyn, I can just visualise the removal van arriving at your new house to begin unloading and you being finally tracked down at the bottom of your new garden planting thornless blackberries.

Sorry to be AWOL yesterday. It was One Of Those Days, you know how it is. You didn't even get anything to think about. However did you get through the day? I'll give you a story today to make up for it.

    THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY

A grandfather once said to his grandson, "My son there is a battle betwee two wolves living inside each one of us.
One is evil: anger, greed, jealousy, fear, resentment, anxiety, lies and ego..
The other is good: joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and trust."

The boy asked, "Grandfather, which one wins?"

Quietly the old man replied, "The one you feed."
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.
  • Humphrey would like to point out a rather glaring fact, HE IS A BOY! and therefore whichever poor unsuspecting creature staggered in confusion into a certain Scots freezer was not HIM! certainly not if it was menopausal!!! He is however rattled enough to have booked himself a ticket to Australiashire to go and keep the second Heffalump company until MAR starts to behave herself!

I always behave!! I mean, is my fault that animals love me?
  • MAR I know how close to them you get, and if they're not quick they become a permanent part of your life!

    Mar,

Animals love you like Hansel and Gretel loved the witch--they're thrilled at your sweetie covered house and love being fattened up until you shove them into your freezer! That said, I find it hard to imagine what camel would be like. My optimistic side says sort of a crispy crackling like texture. My other side says boiled synthetic show leather.

I've made a start on some chores for today. OH is making a squash curry for tea which he'll start while I'm out at yoga. I really ought to make some time to go blackberrying and make some jelly. I keep seeing them from the train going ripe.

FPk I suspect you're right about the boiled synthetic shoe leather! Squash curry, OTOH, sounds yum.

monnagran Good to see you back, I was a bit worried about you yesterday! I hope today will be a better day for you. Thank you for the story.

Hester I hope the wasp stings aren't too sore x

I woke up early so went to the early service at church, and now have loads of time to do laundry, such fun.
