Well, MrsLW, I'l bring hefferlump markII. He's in hiding here, I have him disguised as a large patch of kale. I'm not sure how much he can move, he doesn't like things on his back as the neighbours cat can attest, but he's very good at clearing paths.

My friends, you are a tonic! the thought of 2 x heffalumps is somehow very comforting and I really LIKE the trunk jokes! bless the lot of you for being the lovely people you are, I'm blessed to have your support.

Today we'll be ringing round local companies and we'd come to storage of our things for a few days if there really isn't any firm available to move us on the day. That would work well as our buyer isn't coming in on day 1 but will move over a few days and the folks we're buying from are going into a brand new build the same way and moving over a few days before the 29th so I'm certain we'll be able to fix things suitably. Thank you for all the suggestions for firms, I'll give them to He Who Knows and we'll try them all.


GREENBEE could you PM me the name of the local firm you used? I've been on check a trade and pulled out some half dozen located relatively close to us but a recommendation would be much appreciated.

If the Gods aren't too unhappy with us it looks like one of the firms we had a quote from may be able to move us on the 29th, the guy in charge is 'on the road' and will ring us later this morning to tell us yea or nay so it's going to be a v e r y long wait! hopefully though this one will be able to do what we arranged with the assessor and take our possessions on the Tuesday to deliver on the Wednesday and give me a chance to 'go through' the house when it's empty. We already have a room booked in the nearest hotel for the night of the 28th so we can still be here on the morning of the 29th to sort out any glitches and then drive up to Gloucestershire for lunchtime. Cross everything (but not the heffalumps, they don't much care for being crossed) xxx.

I think there may be several Alpacas but as far as I know just one Camel and Humphrey is very happy to have some little camelid friends!

Yes! we have a removals company booked, slightly differently they will pick up on the 29th from here and deliver to the other end on the 30th but that's absolutely fine. We can get the keys on the 29th and have possession and book a hotel for the night up there to be ready and at the house to receive the lorry. They'll be setting off from here at 6.30 am so should be with us by lunchtime.
