Hope you're ok Kittie and can re-join us soon.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the thought of an exploding compost bin very amusing? I hope it doesn't happen to any of you as there would be an awful mess to clear up, just have a vision of used tea bags and carrot peelings flying through the air. Sorry.

I was cutting the hedge at the front first thing this morning, nearly finished and the hedge trimmer went dead. Checked the socket, extension lead and fuse box and everything was fine then noticed the cable - I had cut right through it! Next door neighbour thinks her OH can fix it, hope so as it's their side that isn't finished!

On swimming etiquette, I was brought up with the rule that if you touched the feet of the swimmer in front they had to stop at the end of the length to let you pass. It's always amusing to see a big butch fella in the fast lane being overtaken by the women, why do they assume they will be fast?

Ah no, compost bin will burst into flames apparently, not explode, funny though that sounds! Something to do with the heat they can generate! Eeeh every day is a school day!
  • I'm going to turn off the television and go upstairs to watch the compost bin.....I'd really love to see one explode! I realise I must explain the above statement, the compost bin isn't actually in the bedroom but is behind the summer house and I can see it from the bedroom window, just in case it appeared differently. I know we're alternative BUT not THAT alternative!!!

Hahaha now I'm going to be looking out for compost bins....! I want to see an exploding one toooo! Do you know, I don't think I've ever seen a compost bin ever, at all! The joys of living in flats! But now...I have a garden. Well, it's like a jungle at the moment!

I am sure that I am not the only one that is a little worried about phraseology in some situations, some posters (very rare) appear to get away with nothing short of bullying.

I love to hear the opinions of others, I may not always agree, but surely that's how we 'grow' by looking a situations from others angles, and we are all entitled to our views and I have quite often learnt a lot.

The one thing I can't stand it foot stamping - 'my view is the right one and no one else has a view' I am a white, middle aged, 'middle class' woman and I want to hear from all of those from all backgrounds so I can make an informed decision, whether is what is the best bread to buy or who or what to vote for, or just learning about life from a different prospective.

I will get off my box now x
Borrows your box to say amen to that . I sometimes feel like we're being viewed by an alien and found sadly lacking .

Well done to your ds and I wish him well . Two of mine live many miles away but like them he will keep coming back and it gives you a good excuse to head to the ferry .for a little jaunt .

Yes, I think ET might not stay long if he frequented some bits of MSE!

Islandmaid just think of all those things that your DS can buy you that aren't available on the Island ;) I used to [STRIKE]force[/STRIKE] encourage DS2 to buy me gifts of tea from Fortnums whuch was around the corner from his uni :D

Sorry to hear some sad piece of insignificant pond life has been stirring up trouble on the threads again. Hopefully kittie's absence will be brief, she has a lot of knowledge and is always happy to share it.

Looks like we have thunderstorms forecast for overnight. The ground could certainly do with a good drenching. Trouble with thunderstorms is they can completely pass you by while someone a couple of miles away gets the lot.

Waves to Ivyleaf:wave: one of us will get it:D

Funny thing is, I've been in much hotter places without it affecting me so much. I was awake from half past midnight until 5am last night and paid for it today with a migraine. Spent a large part of the day lying down and even when the headache went, everything still looked shimmery
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
