Massive storm here at the moment. Loving the sound of rain. We're not far from York.

How lovely, I'd love some rain. I think I'd go out and dance, in the back garden of course, I wouldn't want to frighten the children opposite.

Just a word of caution, we've been discussing over on the Prepping thread pests in stores, particularly in dry stores like flour, cereals, pulses, etc. and someone just today has found a moth infestation and had to throw away an awful lot of food because of it. It might be worth checking any opened packets of food that comes into the 'dry goods' category particularly in this higher than usual heat just in case anything has either got in from the outside or hatched in the product itself, there are all sorts of pernicious pests in places where they've never been seen before these days, worth a look to make sure, it's absolutely horrible if it does happen!

Pests like these have a nasty tendency to keep returning if they're not dealt with thoroughly, horrible things!

That's really rotten about poor kittie :( i hope it's only a temporary thing. She is one of the most helpful people I know and has been very kind to me.

It has been 37 degrees here today

Well I'm a lurker who rarely posts but I wouldn't know how to complain. I'm also old enough to take things on the chin thank you very much....
In the meantime, I heard on the tv the other day, for gardeners with compost bins, that you should water them as they could combust. Am not yet a gardener but thought it may be of interest, but of course you may already know this!

As our friends north of the border would say both dd & I have been feeling a wee bit wabbit over the last few days . Tuesdays doctors appointment did happen but it was then forget town and shopping and go home .

Seems like a virus or bug . I popped in to try to catch up but I'm too hot and not taking much in .

I just want to add my support to dear Kittie . I have never seen an unkind post from her ever . When she lost her DH so suddenly she did what she always does and turned a time of great shock and sadness into advice and support for those dealing with terminal illness and also widowhood .
Kittie is down to earth , practical and never lets negatives defeat her .
She'll be back and I send her warm hugs . Tomorrow as I look on the full moon and re charge the crystals she will be in my thoughts along with my os friends .

    polly x

Thank you for that heads up Hellebore, I hadn't thought about it.

I too hope Kittie's ban is temporary. I love her posts - don't understand half of the sewing ones, but love reading them :).

Meltingly hot here in the East Midlands, would love to see a good thunderstorm.

Just checked and we are currently (at 7.20pm) on 27deg & 84% humidity...allegedly tomorrow will be 30ish & 90%+ humidity. Quite glad I'm working from home tomorrow, in the cool without having to go outside!

I cannot see kittie ever posting anything unkind and she is a stalwart and help for us all.

Her "widows" thread was a lifesaver for me and for others as even with loving family and friends not everyone "gets it!"

I had no clue about compost bins so well done on the information.

Not being a troublemaker but why does it seem to be the nicest most helpful people and threads that get it in the neck?

I am sure that I am not the only one that is a little worried about phraseology in some situations, some posters (very rare) appear to get away with nothing short of bullying.

I love to hear the opinions of others, I may not always agree, but surely that's how we 'grow' by looking a situations from others angles, and we are all entitled to our views and I have quite often learnt a lot.

The one thing I can't stand it foot stamping - 'my view is the right one and no one else has a view' I am a white, middle aged, 'middle class' woman and I want to hear from all of those from all backgrounds so I can make an informed decision, whether is what is the best bread to buy or who or what to vote for, or just learning about life from a different prospective.

I will get off my box now x
