Morning Fencers, been reading along like mar, bit busy/stressful here.

Burtha, glad to hear you've had a good dose of 'me' time, sounds like you're getting a little bit stronger each day. Echoing others' comments about judicious use of Faceache etc.

Fuddle, loving your lottie updates, so glad another wee wifey is on the horizon, and hope that you both make good friends! Would love to see your blog - is it about hotties, moneysaving, or what?

Might have said before about our 2 eldest children and their money woes - get themselves into some dreadful pickles to say the least. Currently, DD and her partner are in deep s**t, debt letters coming HERE for her, he works for himself and hasn't been able to pay himself properly for months, their relationship is all but kaput, and we (or rather I) get all the phone calls, calling him awful names, not taking responsibility for her own faults in the whole thing.....my recently diagnosed stomach ulcers are flaring up again. She can't get a privately rented place in her own name due to CCJ in joint name with her partner, council application is long and drawn out, and council places are scarcer than hens' teeth, so she's going round in circles and offloading on us...:mad:

Sorry, rant over, scroll past...! :o

Re reading stories, I loved Enid Blyton as a child, although my mum hated them, and Laura Ingalls. Later I found Stephen King, James Herbert, Graham Masterton, etc., plus sci-fi, and still like most of those types when I get time to read. On the odd occasions when I get a magazine, it's gardening, crochet, or housey ones, sometimes a science one.

Feeling autumnal here, close to lighting the stove some evenings, but trying to use blankets for the time being, and crocheting a few more!

    (((Hugs to all.)))

    A xo

Cheapskate, re adult kids and worries, nobody would believe the stupidity of my two eldest. They seem to be having a midlife crisis each, daughter 49 and son 46. RV and I been heartbroken but getting over it!! Not our lives so not our problems, that's my new mantra.

Dead right, mar, my DH says much the same! Ours have been living their own lives for years, yet still expect bailing out. The drawbridge is now up, though, and we're looking after ourselves and the littlies. :)

Burtha you are impressing the heck out of me. Keep on keeping on, whether it's fast or slow going, you are going in the right direction. Hope you enjoy your time away.
    Cheapskate hugs
Update on my fall. I'm ok now just a few bruises, a sore kneecap and temple. I'll live, but I wonder how long I can stretch out " Oh I can't reach that because you know what I happened last time I had to use the step stool " :rotfl:.

((HUGS)) Cheapskate, horrible situation for you and your OH. Please do speak to your GP in case you need to increase your stomach meds for a while xx

Well, we went to Bluewater and were able to get the waterproofing stuff we need for our jackets. Then we came home, had something to eat, and both fell fast asleep in our seats for an hour and a half :o
  • Hester, I'm glad it is working out.

Burtha, well done. I hope you're safely on your way on your holiday now. If not, take it easy, take breaks and enjoy it.

Cheapskate--oh dear. Still, I think it sounds like you've got the right attitude.

Nanny, glad the bruises are healing. I say indefinitely ;)

Well, the good news is that there is no new bad news for FIL--nothing has showed up in scans so his prognosis should be good. He starts chemo in a few days so it will be all hands on deck juggling everyone's work schedules so there is always someone with them. Sounds like I might be babysitting...years since I've done that!

Hope all are well, hugs to any and all who need them.x

FairyP. What a relief. So glad that nothing more sinister is going on with your FIL.

Cheapskate and mar. I have the same problem with my eldest. The bank of mum has ceased to be a joke. All through his life he has greeted any advice I might try to give with, "It's my life. I'll do what I like."
He now gets it back when he comes to me with the latest tale of woe. "It's your life. Do what you like."
Honestly! At 48 he sounds like a petulant teenager sometimes.
His younger brother sounds like his grandfather and restores my faith in my parenting abilities.

It was me who ordered the books which should arrive in the next couple of days.

I got " Havock Junction", "Twitchy Eyes", "Bane" and "The Shea".

Looking forward to being cosy with a cup of tea and a scary book now the weather is getting cooler.

The Shee is the best he has ever written, it's seriously scary :D:D
Shrike is another good one, and Still Life is good as well. Took me years to walk in the woods after reading that one... and when I read it my son lived in a lodge house on an estate, built in 1888 and surrounded by damn trees lol. It starts with the wee boy in a cottage in the woods trying to tell his parents that the trees are coming nearer during the night....:eek::eek:
