Sorry for my absence - have had a steady stream of visitors over the last 4 weeks and seem to have spent a lot of time changing beds & putting bedding & towels through the WM! I've also been creating and decorating a baptism / surprise wedding cake, which had a couple of issues (one being a suicidal tin of cooked chocolate cake that leapt off the shelf and into the back of my oven ). On top of that DH has an ongoing situation at work involving the industry Regulator and my contract is expiring at the end of the month without anything to replace it yet so I'm frantically applying for everything I see.
On the upside we went to a lovely gin festival thingy yesterday with DS2, DiL and their best mates, followed by a night cap (:o) & then brunch before they left late this morning.
Burtha hope you had a good evening, and that the Evil Ex continues to make a prat of himself
FPK hope there is positive news about your FiL, and that you've managed to get out and enjoy the fresh air today
nannywindow hope the bruising soon eases off
Right, am off to try and find Ballet Shoes, and relapse on the sofa with some property telly the cat!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Well, we didnt do the walk we planned to do, but we had a nice one anyway. There are jacket spuds in the oven and the clothes are folded and ready to put away. Things are ready for the week to start.
Nannywindow--ouch!
Softstuff, I missed your photos last time around--the house looks stunning. I'm sure you're ready for the rest of it to be finished!
Hester--I don't know if (like Floss says) this is an extra income canal or if you're being sarcastic because CHS has organized a boat cleaning holiday for you.
For those of you sad to have missed Ballet Shoes, if you have access you can watch Drama on catchup. (I just remembered so edited: You do have to login, but you don't need to pay, you just sign up for free using an email address. I haven't had any spam from UKTV). The film is here:

Since we watch everything on laptops I know all of the sites. We did think of getting a TV once the law changed and we bought a licence but still like the idea of having to intentionally choose to watch something. The film looks good. OH may be late some nights this week so I'll add it my list of knitting/watching fodder for the evenings.0 -
Ha, ha. I watched Ballet Shoes and it was lovely. I wish I had recorded it, its just the thing for a cold, dark, wet winter afternoon. Or a cold, dark, wet, summer afternoon come to that.
I've just been out for Sunday lunch with friends. I think that I've eaten 5 days food in one meal. It's a very long time since I've eaten what most people would consider a normal sized meal. I even managed salted caramel ice cream for pud. And now I have to go to confession over on the Weight Loss thread.
I came home to a message reminding me that I am meeting an old colleague on Tuesday. I'd almost forgotten and am delighted. We do this every couple of months, she comes down on train and bus and I go over on bus and hovercraft and we set up camp in one of the many eateries and spend the day drinking endless coffees, eating and reminiscing about the happy times we have shared.
I also have another book to edit that is giving me grief. I'm sure it will all be fine in the end, its getting to the end that bothers me.
I notice that burtha is very quiet today. I hope that this is because she is recovering from a fun filled, exhausting laughter jag, stupidly giggling evening and not because she joined nannyw in falling off the table.

Great pics Softstuff.
As I'm retiring in October I put some feelers out about any part time work available. I was asked if I'd be interested in boat cleaning and I jumped at the chance.
I have been offered one boat to clean starting next week and there are 2 more in the pipeline, I thought if I started now I have a few jobs up and running by the time October arrives.
I can work hours/days that suit me and to start with will be doing both jobs so I will be a bit busy!Chin up, Titus out.0
