    Morning all
Slept late this morning a combination of yesterday being stressful with statement and DGD who is lovely but tiring.

VJ's mum, I remember at my great aunt's funeral, the eulogy was given by her son in law, who was a canon and was obviously related to Hyacinth Bouquet, he rambled on about a totally fictitious family background that included landed gentry. The family background was farm workers, he also claimed my great aunt was widowed in WW2, in fact her husband died in Broadmoor. Most of the attendees at the funeral sat open mouthed, wondering if they were at the right funeral.

Maybe we can start a trend of fantasy eulogies :rotfl:

It would be great fun to write, just a shame you wouldn't be there to see the reactions :D

I agree - I have to skim over some posts on there because I can be rather reactive :o

I'm biting :wall: but it seems old people are ignorant and naive. Haddon Pet, I'm not old and share many of the same feelings. I do think, in time, that thread will be as useful as the SHTF and winter threads though.

Right I've really got to do house work today. Welcome back cheapskate :)

Just back in from food shopping, picked up a few bargains and was loitering with intent as so lovely and cool in there compared to outside.
Am smiling at some of the eulogy stories, we tried and tried to get the previous retired vicar to do DM’s eulogy as he knew her so much better and the current incumbent is a wet haddock kind of man, all to no avail. Luckily my lovely Uncle who is a lay preacher stepped in and gave it for us.
Just catching up on the thread, great news on the impending move Lyn, is it getting a bit more real now lovely?
Birthday cake for breakfast sounds just about right VJsMum :D

You beat me to it; I was thinking it sounded like some sort of cabaret act. :rotfl:
No doubt the brown stuff will hit the fan, hey ho, I'll have to duck.
Ooh, does that mean we're getting a duck in the zoo now? :o (Sorry, I can't spell menagi-thingy.) :D

I am now starting to seriously worry for my sanity. I have a recurring nightmare, which I have had many nights recently. I shall spare you the details; but this morning, I was waiting for Mr LW to come and aid me to dress, and I was thinking "we need to have a chat regarding our legal status; if one of us dies, this will complicate the inheritance business" and it was actually in my mind that the situation in the nightmare was reality. :( I can't put across here properly just how distressing and scary it was. And scary to find that I'd been thinking my nightmare was reality. :(

Sorry, needed to get that off my chest - I know you lot won't mind.

Wolfy if you still haven't heard back from the hospital it will be playing on your mind . I know that one so well ! I toss and turn many a night for the same reason . We deal with things much better when we have things sorted .
On the subject of Huskies dd1 holidayed in Canada ( Whistler ) a few years ago and the high spot of her stay was her and her oh driving a team of huskies through a snowy ' icy landscape .

  • The girls bought He Who Knows a husky 'experience' for his birthday a couple of years ago, DD1 went too as she's a real husky lover and they had a wonderful time meeting and handling the dogs, even had some puppies to play with.....and then they got to have a go on a chariot pulled by first one dog, then a team of three. DD1 had no problems because the dogs responded to her voice calls, she stayed upright and managed a creditable speed along the track.....He Who Knows has rather a deep voice and the dogs didn't respond to his commands, first run he ended up in a hedge, second run he ended up on his bottom at the start while the team careered off on their own! He had a nice day though and still loves huskies! They both went husky sledding seeking the northern lights in the snow in the top part of Norway on one of their holidays together and they both were absolutely blown away by the feeling of speed the dogs pulled at on snow!

    Menagerie?

Sorry about your nightmare - but i think it is common to think it's reality, particularly in the first moments after waking, and especially if you've woken straight from it IYSWIM. I dream regularly and vividly - and often the dreams will reflect something i am worried about, or even if i don't know i am worried about it. Could it be that there is an underlying concern about being left alone? Like help with getting dressed - i know it was something mum had been concerned with.

Re the Eulogy thing - that's one of the reasons I wrote the poem for dad (beginning 'There was an old lady from Hitchen' :rotfl:) because the celebrant was trying to make him all flowery, my dad was about as earthy as they come... and I wanted that to be reflected in what was said, 'warts and all' to quote oliver Cromwell.

Yoga was fab, had a good stretch. when i get back from France (i'm going next week, did i say :p) I am going to start another class. Future proofing, i call it.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Thanks Polly and VJsmum; this particular nightmare predates all Mr LW's health problems by some years (yes that's how long I've been having it  ) and I think it stems from my own non-existent self-esteem.

It's the first time I've been awake for a good couple of hours and still thought the nightmare was the real-world situation, though. :(

Sending positive healing vibes to Lainey's sil .

Good to see Peter is progressing well Monna and Mr Maryb too .

Belated happy birthday to your dd Vjsmum . Hope the trip out with her friend went well .

Well done to Cranky with the running especially in the hot weather although we did have quite a downpour here on Monday which although we were out in it was very welcome .

Fuds PS really doesn't do himself any favours does he ? He kicks off and you end up with support and backup from the locals . He sounds like the obnoxious neighbour I mentioned , nobody can put up with him and people change dog walking routes to avoid but he's utterly oblivious .

Enjoy your visit from your dd and grandson NM . I hope you managed some rest after your long day .

Take care all , things are busy here so may catch up better at the weekend .
