Nursemaggie, I've crossed everything so much it's twiddled up for you.
Lamewolf, that's a whole lot of effort for one day, hope you've had more than one cider.
I'd love to run a tea shop like that too.... with a lot of lovely vintage things for sale... ah the dream.
Silvasava, hope you're bug free soon xx
Polly, I'm glad I don't need the alibi, as soon as I see the police I feel guilty, despite never having broken the law. I do think though your plan falls apart a bit where you say everyone must appear normal and dignified :rotfl:
Dammit Panda, I'd missed the Susie Watson mention and thanks to you had to go look... crud. There's a lot of loveliness there.
Welcome Litha!
Nargle, here in foreign parts it's cold and wet, so you're right, you don't need them! And yes, Mr Nargle is doing well even being up and about right now.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I'm relieved the day went well after all Hester . I forgot to include we needed to come across as terribly boring in our alibis . Wittering on and on would soon get rid of a bobby at the door and I can witter while eyes glaze over . They could put a poster up in the canteen " If you see this woman , just run away very quickly "
I was about to ask which direction Mar was heading in but glad she's gone to the Highlands rather than headed this way . You know I luvs you Mar so I hope you enjoy a much needed break but one wee beastie and you're in big trouble ! Where is the cat ? Is she with you ?
NM Even if you wanted to you wont lose us . I didn't mention crossing anything this time but I can tie and untie knots if needed . Watch your breathing . I'm just watching the smoke spreading over Bolton from winter hill .
I reckon it's time Paul Heaton gave us a loud rendition of the Manchester song . I'd sing it loudly with him .
OOH Schools out for Summer Camelot . I know Scotland break up early but here they aren't breaking up until late July . Make the most of your break and nowt wrong with watering the lottie .
Thank you everyone for your birthday wishes and kind words .
I had a hot but lovely day apart from the soup .
I'll own up Panda as the one who first mentioned Susie Watson . It's too late but never google that site - thereby lies madness :rotfl:
Well Lovely Tomasz has just mentioned the summer of 76 . Feel free to kill Mystic Meg here . A few friends today were looking at me in a bemused fashion .

I'm so glad today went well Nargle and things were ironed out . Support at work is very valuable as you need to take care of yourself too when you can .
Well SS I posted the Susie Watson warning too late for you ! I must point out I have only 4 Susie pieces all gifts at various times from eldest daughter . he big blue spot teapot , one decorative dish and two fine china mugs including one with tiny robins on which is my favourite . They've never been used as I'm the one who can send sugar flying around the kitchen and have sudden soup incidents . They live on the dining room dresser with the Emma Bridgewater pink heart collection . A lot of them I bought myself from the factory outlet or in various sales . My mug with my name on it was a gift from my daughter on a visit to the pottery in Stoke . We watched the potter making it and then they decorated and fired it afterwards added a glaze . Within a few days it came here with Royal Mail . The Cath Kidston is a mixture of gifts and bargains I bought from Scotland down to Bicester Village and many places in between . When she sold the brand and a lot of stuff was made in China I stopped buying . The large mugs are used daily and I've only broken 2 . I bought replacements online before the final stock was sold . I also bought more of the pale blue and white bath mitts and towels from small to huge than I will ever use up as they've proved to be excellent quality and living by the sea the white boats on a pale blue background fit in well .
Of course the oil cloth bags are still going too .
There I told you I could witter ! We can do normal if needed . I manage it just ask our dear doctor , actually he may be lying on the yoga mat he keeps under his desk or puffing on the e gig dd spotted under his desk which led to much hilarity he may be choking with laughter after our last visit . The fact he now longer needs to lie down on the yoga mat when we leave proves this is normal :rotfl:
polly x
ps Shortly after midnight I started to close the laptop down and google had a row of lit candles . First I thought how odd then I clicked on it and got a Happy Birthday Polly message . It's still there now , I imagine it will disappear soon like Cinderella .
I've never known that happen before but on a very hot day 6 candles blazing away made me feel hotter , daft I know .
Night all polly xIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Goodness me, I take a few hours off and this thread races out of my grasp. It was altogether too hot for me yesterday. I don't tolerate heat at all well. The problem is that I don't actually sweat much and the automatic cooling system in my body has a glitch. Now, on a more fragrant note...............
Welcome Litha. Or welcome back. Intrigued by your user name, perhaps it is really Lisa but I have a lithp and read it wrongly.
Glad to hear that CHS is still alive and annoying, but I was looking forward to a bit of GBH. Hester, you are an old Melanie. (hahahahaha. That's a good one tablet. I typed m e a n i e .)
How would you like to have to go out into the fields and catch your supper, on a blistering hot night, wearing a fur coat, even with no knickers as Polly suggests?
I bet your dd, being your dd can hold her own with her in-laws.
Oh help, my mind has blanked out. I can't remember a thing. I have a fan in my room that has been going all night so I did manage a bit of sleep but the brain has left the body.
I'll have an industrial strength coffee and come back when the caffeine has worked its magic and I am back to normal.

Monna That was a big laugh for this time of morning. Limited edition suits you rather well. I've been up a couple of hours with heartburn. The heat is not bothering me. my bedroom is positively fridge like no matter what the weather. It faces north. Don't all knock me down in the rush to borrow it. I have to remind myself when I get dressed not to dress for the bedroom temperature.0

Morning all,
I've just been reading back in an attempt to find out what CHS did but there were so many things I was worried I'd forget that I didn't make it back that far!
Polly, I hope you had a lovely birthday!
Nursmaggie--I didn't make it to your announcement post, but this does sound like news that things are at least moving in the right direction!
Litha, welcome! I'll pass the elderflower cordial.
Nargle--a short walk does sound very positive and it sounds like you're taking wonderful care of him.
Floss and Polly--the smoke is much less where I am now, mainly because the wind changed direction, not because there is less of it. I think others must still have a lot of it. I can still see it in the evenings sometimes. Our fire service was cut just a few months ago. The community protested but the protest was disregarded. I believe in the end the military didn't actually provide equipment, just more people so that MCR could keep a skeletal service in the city--a good thing too as a tower block had a fire. Having lived in California for awhile where forest fires are regular and disastrous the whole thing worries me.
Well, I'm sure I've forgotton someone and at least a few important things--I apologize. This is what I get for not logging in enough! Hugs to all who need them.x0 -
Oh elderflower cordial fpk...
Welcome litha.
Silva going by past experience I would lay my last plot picked strawberry that you're already improving this morning. I hope so anyway. Your words are super kind. I realise it takes some strength to go against the grain but I kind of think its easy when it's realised that the grain is weak, meandering aimlessly in a wishy washy fashion.(referencing keeping up with others expectations etc incase I had confused the thread again)
NM it's so very difficult not to get excited when things become hopeful but we're with you in not getting hopes up.0 -
I'm betting all of you sods are using up all the heat before I get there in September. So brace yourselves, September/October will be bloody freezing. In fact, if the last time I came April/May is anything to go by, it may well snow in parts that have not seen snow in years :rotfl:
I've just helped myself to a nice glass of whisky and am off out shortly for dinner and music. It's father in laws birthday. If that isn't cause for a drink I don't know what would be.
P.S I'm 100g off my target weight. And today in a charity shop tried on and bought a shirt in a size 10 :eek:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Morning all
I gave in and provided a tin of sardines and a bowl of water.
I had a dreadful nights sleep, 3 time I fell asleep and woke after 20 minutes so I'm tired now.
I had a very funny conversation with my plumber, he doesn't like my tenant and was very upset that they wanted a new bathroom suite just because the bath drains slowly. He told me the problem is all their fault, he thinks it's caused by what he delicately referred to a lady hair going down the drain along with head hair and possibly thinks they have been washing the dogs in the bath too.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Just lost a VERY long post. Am at present lying on the floor, chewing the rug and sobbing gently.
I love you all x
ETA. Hester, bottle of Drain Clear stuff. Under a fiver. Cheaper than a new bathroom suite.
Then an an eviction notice at the end of the lease.I believe that friends are quiet angels
