I hope everyone is well this morning.
I'm going to walk along the towpath this morning to collect my car, it's only two miles and nicer than sitting on a hot bus.
Monna, the only things I'm likely to deface are the plants that are trying to climb in through the windows, it's a bit like the day of the Griffiths, triffids, not Griffiths, stupid tablet.
Floss I'm going in to see the hire company tomorrow, we paid £780 to have the boat blacked and it's now badly scratched, we were on a chain and three pins and all three pins were pulled out.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
NM am hoping the curtains being put up are an omen of a new property! I had roller blinds put up just a little while before being offered where I am moving to tomorrow. I had curtains but like dark where possible, way too sunny without, hurts my eyes as so bright!
Therefore today is packing stuff where I know it will be, well sort of, doing some washing and just general moving bits that I want to keep close by me ie laptop chargers landline phone etc. so I don't spend too much time looking for everything.

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Bright morning, still in bed, will get a shower, then off into town and to DD 2's for lunch.
We have just about finished picking strawberries, I think we need to hull what we have left and freeze them. I can use them in jelly for a dessert.
Quiet day yesterday, TV was dire last night, ended up watching recorded programmes.
Stepson came with youngest grandson, stayed for about an hour. GS played on his tablet the whole time, did not get a word out of him. Not sure if that was good or bad.
Guess we will be having a snack for supper tonight.
NM I hope you are successful with your application. I agree you should get in touch with your MP. You are getting nowhere on you own. Either use the web site to send him a message or go to one of his surgeries, he should be able to help you. We had a problem with council tax. Could not get the council to sort it out. I put a detailed letter into the constituency office, bingo, it was sorted out tout suite. An enquiry from an MP has to have an answer within 24 hours.0 -
Am home but knackered. Have seen a wild echidna, a random emu and a red tailed black cockatoo and have otherwise had a lovely time away.
Have made an attempt to catch up, but am a bit brain dead, so hugs to all those that need them. Nursemaggie, you're not crazy, noise just makes you feel that way, and I agree, email your MP.
Hester, so sorry to hear of your boat, hope it can be fixed at someone elses expense.
Tiredtrophy, hope the shingles ease soon, been there, done that, sending you much love.
Growing food wise, I seem to be able very successfully to grow what we don't presently eat. So if anyone would like bananas, passionfruit, a field of lemongrass or citrus fruits, feel free to pop on overSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Good morning my friends
I'm just having a quick read-through now but will come back later x

Well I have made up for not sleeping this last week. I have slept 12 hours.
Yes Please softstuff. I would love lots of all the fruits but not "a field full of lemongrass just a little bit. If there is any grapefruit in the citrus I can't eat that. It turns my cancer treatment into something lethal. I did buy one when they stopped the tablets but I never got to eat it before I was back on them.
Your right about the noise. The worse it got the more confused I got. It felt like they were dancing on my head in clogs.
I did manage to speak to someone in bins on Friday. I have written a letter to the head of the "Environment and Bins" suggesting he get together with the Housing Association and the refugee agency to see if they can work something out. It just needs a system so that they learn what to do. They may then sort out the rubbish on the top landing.
As long as I have lime green cabbages on one wall in my bedroom I will not feel like I have a new flat. They are not new in the living room. I think of Bognor when when I see them. They are far too big we had a huge bay window with 7 sash windows in it. They are 90 drop and they barely reached the windowsill in that window. I need to use them they were expensive.0 -
I've picked another pound of French beans from the polytunnel today so they've survived! also got a small box of loganberries, not enough for the two of us until I decided to make them into a sponge cake with some allspice and orange essence, just waiting for the oven to get up to temperature and that will be pudding for a few days.
He Who Knows brought me the last of the autumn sown broad beans from the allotment, the pods were black and the beans half dried so not promising but I hate to waste things so I podded the beans and cooked them, popped the soft inner bean out of the chewy outer case and I've made broad bean hummus which is surprisingly tasty and that will be lunches for a couple of days with some veg sticks, probably chunks of home grown courgette, love it!0 -
Lyn they make what you made with broad beans in Malta it is a very popular dish. Not as much oil as in hummus. during the season they are available on the streets. We ate it with little crackers the traditional way they eat them. The crackers are also a local thing they don't have any fat or flavourings in them. It is tasty.
The lime green cabbages on my bedroom wall I think are supposed to be peonies I think. We did not pull the wallpaper off because of the mess we still have on the living room wall. The paint is peeling off where we could not get rid of the glue. They were pillar box red, still not the right colour for peonies.0 -
'Well jel' of those of you picking your crops - ours are minimal this year as we are planning a major garden refurb - did make 'jumbleberry' Jam from the soft fruit we do have.
We went out for breakfast, a lovely treat - then basked in the sun like fat seals in the garden :rotfl:
DH then washed car and vans whilst I did laundry and prepped dinner - garlic and herb slow roasted chicken (ie bung in oven and leave)with stir fried Savoy cabbage with bacon - add a glass of vino :T
DS just back from Festival- due at work at 5 am tomorrow, hope he has slept off the England win by then, he did assure me he's only had a couple of beers today, so should be safe to drive in the morning, he knows better than to risk it
Enjoy the last of the weekend sun all xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Breakfast is my favourite meal to have out Islandmaid, I'm quite envious!
I've never really liked broad beans Lynn but your hummus sounds lovely, may give it a go. My allotment has exploded into life, flowers on the beans and peas and some buds on the courgettes. We are a few weeks behind you up here so it's looking promising.
It got really hot here this afternoon, had to come in to cool off and promptly feel asleep! In my defense I was up early and had DD, DS1 and DGS for lunch - I'm really not used to 2 year olds! I've just noticed that the things I value are still upstairs out of the way, I'll get them back down tomorrow.
Hope you've all had a good weekend.0
