TT please take it easy - Shingles is very nasty x
Nursemaggie I have got everything crossed for you, as everyone has said, you have been through such a stressful time, you deserve a bit of luck - time to start making a noise with your MP/citizens advice etc tell them this is effecting your mental health and you need support in applying for suitable accommodations as you are loosing out through no fault of your own x

We spent a lovely morning parked up at Fort Victoria, watching the yachts sailing past, Home for a glass of ice cold wine and BBQ - hazey sunshine perfect for the festival goers, a really happy vibe here at the moment x

We've found a mooring so we've tied up and put the gangplank out, the area is very overgrown but at least we have some privacy from passers by and a great view of the bees, butterflies and dragon flies surrounding us.
    Chin up, Titus out.

That sounds rather nice, Hester :)

nm I forgot to wish you good luck with your bids.

TiredTrophy Ouch, so sorry about the shingles :( Wishing you a speedy recovery.

gran3 You're quite right, there would be utter panic from "the management" in our office when an MP asked them to look into something on behalf of a constituent!
  • On the bright side of gardening I've just picked the first small bowl of ripe loganberries from our garden plants. The blackbirds were trying for them so I had a good look and Bingo! ripe and delicious treat for us.

Mrs LW Annoying, but maybe its for the best with packing up for the move to your new home?
Ivyleaf yes - from PA experience in both the nhs and local government, bosses would ask "how high would you like me to jump?" when an MP's missive arrived
HH Hope the boy-racers were apprehended & will be paying for their damage

nm, so glad that you have your curtains up. With a bit of luck you'll have them up just in time to take them down again when you move.
When my parents moved into the new bungalow they had bought when they were married in 1938 Dad said he would build Mum some shelves in the tiny kitchen.
He did too. In 1958 just before they moved out.

Hester, hope this mooring is quiet and peaceful and there are no cars for you to be accused of defacing.

Tired Trophy, I've heard that shingles are very painful and debilitating. Poor you. Apparently they also often follow a period of stress. I bet that doesn't surprise you. I hope that you soon start feeling a bit better.

DIL and friend have gone off to spend the evening at the Festival. DIL gets tickets through her work. DS2 took them up there and then came back to me to collect Pickle. I did volunteer to keep Pickle if he wanted to go to the Festival too.
He paled visibly and refused hastily and without thanks.

MrsL - my climbing beans and runners are flowering but no sign of any beans yet. Some tomatoes have set and I've picked our first cucumber ;) My blackcurrant bush has yielded about 2lb so far and probably about the same left. The loganberries have gone mental and I'm picking about half a pound sometimes twice a day!!! Lovely but I haven't cleared the freezer from last year!
Think I'll be distributing them among friends and neighbours ;)

I have lots of gooseberries...my neighbours here think they are suspicious and that runner beans are probably poisonous!

Thank you for your good wishes.

Silvasava am jealous of your beans...can I send the baby magpies & pigeons southward? The allotment has had 3 lots of beans planted and all have been pecked to death :( Have sown some today in the 2nd greenhouse so fingers crossed they will be safe!

Good morning. Really, these blue skies, sunny days and rising temperatures are getting quite boring. Honestly, my raincoat is growing cobwebs and what on earth are we going to grumble about?

I love your stories of your battles with fruit and veg. I was such an enthusiastic grower back in the day and fully intend to do a bit when I finally move, even if I have to do it in pots. I most miss having my own runner beans and tomatoes. To me a row of beansticks making a triumphal archway was a sign that summer had begun and the taking of them down signalled its end. There was nothing to compare with wandering out into the garden, digging up a few carrots and new potatoes, picking a few beans and a courgette or two, collecting a sprig of mint and taking it all into the kitchen, straight into the pot. Happy days.

And a happy day for me. Absolutely nothing that I HAVE to do. The possibilities are limitless but its a safe bet that after a wander along the beach the rest of the day will consist of a lot of lounging around and reading.

    THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY
