Ah you lot of b*ggers, your kindness has made my eyes leak! All points taken on board.

Work wise all is well, if I need shifts changing to accommodate appointments, or carer's leave at short notice there is no problem at all, they are very supportive. The two shifts a week give me a break from things, and I have started doing what one of you suggested- sort out his meals for the days I am at work so he just has to pick up a plate or shove a bowl of porridge in the microwave. Yes, Mr Hard-and-Fast Egg and Bacon Man has agreed to have porridge on the days I am at work as it tires him out standing over a frying pan for several minutes (I also leave a plate of mixed fruit and nuts to go with the porridge).

Cranky thanks for the pm, it is good to hear others' experiences.

Maggie what a Sod about the bungalow! Keep looking, you will find the right place eventually.

Sunday's weather is supposed to be nice so Chateau Nargle is the venue for a barbecue on the patio. There will be eleven of us (me and OH, visiting family, neighbours and our DS who returns Sunday morning from a few days in Amsterdam with his mates. I am in two minds as to whether I want to hear about what he did, although to be fair they are sensible lads) and we will have burgers, chicken and pork with rolls and salady bits. I got in extra wine and beers, including a bottle of Liebfraumilch, how retro is that?

Glad work are being supportive to you Nargle - your BBQ on Sunday sounds just the tonic.(tbh I'm not sure I would want to know what my DS got up to in Amsterdam either - or maybe my imagination is too vivid lol)
Hope the weather is kind for you.

I'm sorry about the bungalow Nursemaggie, it seems like they just move all the goalposts at will.

Cranky, there was a heap of algebra I never thought I'd get use of, and geometry too. Then I started house renovations and believe it or not have made use of things I hadn't touched since my early teens :rotfl: Even hubby was surprised to be roped in with his higher level maths from uni at one stage in our carpentry. So maths can save you money I guess, in the very long term!

Glad Mr Lamewolf has an appointment now, and not too far off too.

Nargle, I used to love Liebfraumilch! It's something I'd forgotten about. Have a lovely BBQ.

Does anyone else ask taller strangers to reach things on a high shelf in a supermarket? I am 4.10 1/2 if I stretch myself and re the plumptiousness, well the same sized organs in a smaller space, think of a smaller container holding the same amount, of course the sides bulge

Mrs LW, are you and hubbie on painkillers yet? Sounds as though the move is going very well but the aches, all that lifting and carrying. I remember it well

Always asking if Ican borrow their height to reach itemsxx

That sounds a good idea. What do you do when there is no one anywhere near what you need. The bread I like I cannot even reach on tiptoe to touch the edge of the shelf. It is so high I can't even see if the right bread is there. I have search the whole shop for a member of staff and had to go to a counter to get someone who can get me the bread. Sometimes I wait ten minutes until someone comes to get bread.

Lots of things I jump and knock them off the shelf. I think Mr M is the worst of the supermarkets for very high shelves. It's not worth taking two buses to go somewhere else for a couple of things though.

Upstairs sounds like they are moving out with about 100 removal men all wearing clogs and jumping with everything. The car is not anywhere in the street which means the parents are out. It's really getting me down now.

I have written to the council and warned them if nothing is done soon I will send a copy to my MP, my councilor he is the head of the council, and to the Mayor of Greater Manchester.

I'm back :j Had a nice week with sister-in-law. The flight home was delayed, and then those of us who had mobility assistance had to wait on board for ages until the assistance people could come to get is into the terminal (we were on a stand "in the middle of nowhere" rather than attached to the airport building by a "bridge". Apparently it's because the airline refuses to pay the extra £100 for a decent stand, so they - and their hapless passengers - get all the worst ones.). Because of the delay, we had arrived back after midnight, and they have only 4 people on the night shift  for the whole terminal!
Anyway. Eventually got home just after 3 a.m. and fell into bed, to be woken at 9 o'clock by the postman delivering a parcel for DS (some sort of tools or components). The intended recipient was of course dead to the world. Lovely to be back in my own bed though :)

I'm just catching up on the thread atm.

Nursemaggie How the heck can you bid for places when the goalposts change so often - so sorry, and hope something comes up trumps soon x

Well, what an enjoyable couple of days for us, we met with the 'kids' (20,22,24) and their respective OH's for dinner last night, as I said it was DD's birthday, and celebration of her being selected for Student Nurse training - we had lots of booze, lots of tapas and loads of catching up - I love my kids, we had a great night. They surprised DH with a new shirt, and a plaque which read 'Best Stepdad - he even stayed after he met us' for Father's Day - he welled up x

Today, DD and her OH came round- DD has been looking for a new car for a while, and I had 'found' one that looked perfect - on the ruse of going shopping, the showroom is opposite Aldi, I showed her the car - a test drive, a few questions, a bit of cash and she is the (very) proud owner of a VW Polo - more than she wanted to spend, but we needed her to have something safe and reliable for her working shifts, and she had worked SO hard to get her Student Nurse acceptance, we helped her out a bit x

The kids have all chipped in for a Father's Day lunch tomorrow at his favourite restaurant - he doesn't know yet ;)

My brother's kids came home from the shops yester with 2 bags of food.
My brother asked them what they had bought.
The little one said, "We got some steak as a surprise for Father's Day". :rotfl:
I reckon he will act surprised anyway, to humour them :)
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Oh dear god, can I please have a rant about my husband?

We are going on holiday TOMORROW, leaving home at 05.45:eek: he hasn't packed yet... He has spent the day travelling around London and Kent altering tickets as he changed the travel plans TWO DAYS AGO  (travel plans that, incidentally, means that I lose two days of my holiday - it's a long story). BUT not happy with that, he took the longer route round so that he could 'cop' some railway track that he hadn't travelled before..... He got back at 5.15. Meanwhile I have been doing everything else

And now he is in a foul mood because things haven't been done

Jeez, it's s good job killing him would just mean paperwork....
I wanna be in the room where it happens
