I hope VJsmum has left with everything, including her DH, intact. Failing that, look out for suspicious heaps of freshly dug earth.

Softstuff, you really are at the cutting edge of new food sensations, aren't you? I have just enjoyed my Sunday morning treat of a mug of Cocoa and Chilli tea on your recommendation. It's gorgeous but a bit expensive, hence the once a week treat.

FairyP. I am amazed at your will power. I don't think I could have been quite so enterprising and self controlled while being away from home. Well done you.
It's great that things seem to be working out for your Dad. Enjoy your outing today.

Nothing dramatic happening here. I have my mind on the viewing on Tuesday. I almost hope that the viewer doesn't like it because my prospective buyers are still hopeful that they can sell their house in time. Still, there is nothing I can do about that. What will be will be.

Good to know VJsmum made it to the South of France - always assuming, of course, that that was the original destination? :rotfl: *ducks to avoid hard object thrown in my direction*

My "meet'n'greet" with Bessie the Springer Spaniel seemed to go well; she and her Mum stayed an hour and a half, and Bessie has the waggiest tail I have ever seen. Fingers crossed that they actually book for Bessie to stay with us.

Got rid of my silver badger-stripe this morning, with Mr LW's assistance; unfortunately doing that has left me wiped out for the rest of the day. I've managed to make veggie toad-in-the-hole for dins, but done precisely nothing else useful. I hate this ruddy illness!

Struggling meself LW. One of the hardest things for me has been realising that my world has got a hell of a lot smaller. But to counter attack lol I am planning a lot of changes to the garden. Very cheap changes, but making it nicer for me to sit in.

monna There are 20 sets of 5% in 100% and I think we all fit into one of them and no one fits into that average the 95% is for. This is the reason why the roll out of Universal Credit is such a disaster. All of the government is burying there heads in the sand because it was their baby and it was going to cut public spending for good. Of course it has done the opposite because the charities have been propping them up. If it ever gets out how many people have died because "NO ONE is average" the Tories will be toast". I am not saying the others are any better they make similar !!!! ups. If they don't get caught on this they will certainly be toast because of the way they have handled Brexit.

Has it turned cold or is it me?

DS has been for dinner. He has made a mess of changing the curtains, mainly because I lost all the extra curtain hooks. I'm not getting up on a ladder so they can wait until next time he comes. I found the hooks about 5 minutes after he left.

    Morning all,

Nursemaggie, quite right the curtains can wait.

Mar--nicer to sit in sounds perfect. I hope you'll share your garden schemes.

As far as my self-restraint on a work trip..well for various reasons I don't get food reimbursed if it isn't already included in my hotel or my activity (it often is). Seeing the almost £10 price on breakfast and then seeing that it didn't start until the time I needed to leave the hotel did wonders for my resolve. I'm extremely fortunate that this has come to pass now that OH and I both have jobs and can afford to make these choices, because it certainly isn't the most economical choice most of the time (90p pot of porridge vs. £10 breakfast not being a typical example :rotfl:)

VJs, enjoy the holiday and ignore the husband when necessary :)

Well, I had a little foray into my work email an hour ago and there was a substantial spray of brown, sticky smelly stuff emanating from the fans at work (I'm speaking metaphorically, I don't work in any sort of context that has machinery or fans). I think this week might be interesting.

FPK, brekkie at 10 quid... maybe if I was on holiday and I could eat enough to tide me over to lunch, but certainly not on a work trip. But if brekkie is paid for by work, bring it on!

FairyP all is made clear. Remove all my grovelling accolades of yesterday, you are just like the rest of us, healthily tight around the purse strings.
Do let us in on the gossip that is obviously about to happen at work. As long as it doesn't affect you, there is nothing we love more than a bit of brown stuff stirring.

nursemaggie, you are absolutely right. No one is average. So where do these big institutions, (government is not the only one) get the idea that one size will fit all. My objection is that they make it so difficult to speak to a human being. I had a problem in one area, I won't say which one, and it took me just over 35 minutes to get through to a real person. Then the problem was completely resolved in less than 5. Madness.

LW, fingers crossed that Bessie becomes one of your regular clientele . You could tie a duster on her tail and get quite a lot of low level housework done.

I have an exciting day of tarting up the house ahead of me. It's amazing how tatty a perfectly clean and tidy house appears when you look through a prospective buyers eyes. I found myself last night rearranging the fridge so that it looked tidier. Why? So far no one has asked to inspect the interior of the fridge. However, if they do I am ready for them.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Yep, I know that feeling well.
I was only saying yesterday to Mr LW that I just feel resentful that I can't still do the sort of stuff I did in my 20s. This "getting old" lark sure isn't as good as it's cracked up to be!:D

No age does not come alone, but there is also to be said for it. No getting out of bed at the crack of dawn to go to work. No traveling to work. The times to do things you never had time to do before. I'll qualify that as it remind those who are still working. Due to a lot less income not having the money to do some of the things you wanted to do. Due to it taking a lot longer to do everything, you time when you do get out is much reduced. Lack of a car for many of us.

Plenty of time to shop around, Getting bargains others miss because we have the time to find it. If it's food having time to do something nice with it. Being able to go for a walk when everyone else is at work. Being able to go places outside of the school holidays. No cleaning in the evening or weekends because you are at work the rest of the time.

Being able to stay in when the weather is bad and go out another day when it's fine and hopefully sunny. Not having to go to the Supermarket on a Saturday with everyone else. Eat what you like When you like, take holidays outside of the busiest time. NO BOSS. Very few responsibilities.

The sun has come out so I'm off to town to escape from all this paperwork I have round me. You can't do that when you are at work. I can leave it until tomorrow when it's forecast to rain.

I could do the tidy up my fridge, it needs cleaning and I need to check all the bottles and Jars.

Monna I usually find it takes a lot longer than 35 mins to get anything sorted especially if it is their fault there is a problem. We are talking months here or never. Customer service stands for Customer disservice and there is mission is to blame the customer if at all possible. A lot of things never do get sorted.

Breakfast for £10 you can usually get a better breakfast at a little cafe which is much nicer, served with a smile and half the price.

Well I'm back after buying lots of reduced salad items in M & S I was a naughty girl and went and bought two danish pastries for 50p. I do have enough salad stuff to last me all week, and something to go with it for most of the week too. I don't need to go back tomorrow for the market.
