LW, fingers crossed that Bessie becomes one of your regular clientele . You could tie a duster on her tail and get quite a lot of low level housework done.
You'll be pleased to know that I got an email in my inbox today confirming Bessie's holiday at the end of September. :T
I have also finally finished the birthday card I was struggling to make, for a birthday on 28th June. Cut that one a bit fine, I think. The next one I have to do is mid-August, so I need to put my thinking cap on - in fact there are two in August, just a day apart. So double thinking cap, then. ;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Old age is no place for cissies in Bette Davies' inimitable phrase

(that always puts me in mind of 'hallo Mudder hallo Fader' You know the bit where 'the Head Coach wants no cissies, so he reads to us from something called Ulysses')

    He can drive again Hallelujah!!

I had no idea he would be such a dreadful passenger. For the last 30 odd years whenever I have driven he has always been perfectly relaxed and happy. I now realise it was because I only drive when he has had a few drinks and is quite laid back

    Excellent news maryb :j
And also excellent news about Bessie, LW :T

OH is watching the football, though as I said to him, there's really no need to watch it, as you can tell perfectly well what's happening by the sound effects from next door, where our neighbour has invited a couple of friends round to watch the match :D though I'm rather hoping the rest of his friends don't come to join them afterwards...

nursemaggie I am so sorry to hear about the shoes that were uncomfortable! i am in the same situation atm. I wore what had been a comfy though scarcely-worn pair of H*tter Mary Janes on the journey to Germany and back but had to buy a pair of sandals while I was there, because my toes have become so bent since I bought the shoes. They will still be ok to wear for church, as long as OH is up and about in time to give me a lift...

maryb, you were so lucky that a few drinks just laid him back a bit.
I once had to drive a highly inebriated boyfriend home when he was as laid back as a newt.
His brothers had got him into the car and locked tbe door after him, no seat belts in those days so he was not restrained. It was his car, which I had never driven before, it was dark and I wasn't sure of the journey home. My guardian Angel did a bit of overtime that night. BF tried to get out of the car, tried to change gear for me, grabbed the steering wheel a couple of times and sang songs from Paint Your Wagon at the top of his voice.
When we got to his house there was a short flight of steps down from the gate. He did a sort of goose step at the top and his feet continued to 'walk' in mid air until he arrived at the bottom in a heap. He then made several attempts to get himself through the front door by taking a few steps back, aiming in what he hoped was the right direction and crashing into the wall on either side of the door.

Reportedly he had a bit of a headache the next day and wondered why his car was at my house.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

My sympathies Ivyleaf about the noise next door.

I thought this morning my noise were moving out. Two men came and one of them was throwing lots of things out of the windows upstairs. I was sure it was directly above. It can't have been because they are still there all the windows are open and there are balloons around the window. Saturday night must have been a party. I don't know what was going on.

I once went with a friend to collect her husband who'd been to a stag do, he arrived are the car park wearing just one sock and he ,wasn't wearing it on his foot, his brother who arrived with him was fully dressed but rolling a tractor tyre ! They were adamant the tyre had to go on the roof of the car which was a mini!!
