Morning all,
My thoughts are with you and your OH Nargle.
Lamewolf I hope things have improved for you. If video games help, then they aren't a waste of time. Nothing that helps you to look after you and your health is a waste of time.
VJs, I'm so sorry there wasn't a better outcome. Perhaps once the reality of the situation sets in he will come to a decision in his own time. Do you and your brother feel able to exact a bit of pressure by requiring maintenance?
We got a bit of good news again last night. Dad's heart is enlarged but they think they can treat with medication. They seem to think it was down to a medication change made recently. There is still one more serious set of results to come but slowly but surely the seem to be finding both causes and treatment solutions. I'm also relieved is my brother hasn't managed to get enough time off work to see him in over two years. He even changed jobs to one with a bigger leave allowance and has finally accrued enough to come over later this summer.
Monna I've often wondered if I lived on the cusp of the domestic appliance era which would I buy first, a washing machine or a fridge? I mostly think washing machine, but I think it would be a tough call.
Right, I'm in work today with lots of meetings so I'd better get a wriggle on. Hugs to all those who need them.x0 -

Thanks both - brother is not really in a good place. he is having bereavement counselling and will not discuss dispersal of the ashes. Says it's 'too soon' (mum has been gone 81/2 years.. and has been in a cupboard all that time.. ). he knows he has to maintain it and cannot raise any money against it. The trust of the five of us own it (albeit not in equal proportion). i need to draw up a trust document setting out the guidelines and i need to do a bit of digging about the legalities of it. Particularly about what happens when one of us dies - or when we all do.... << sigh >> what a mess dad left us with. So much uncertainty, if he'd left it all alone the house could go on the market and all would be sorted...
And to top off my fun - I am about to go to collect MiL and bring her to our house for the weekend. Cue loads of questions about what dad put in his will..... over and over again. Such fun!! (Sorry, I am such a b!tc4)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I have just done something that I have been intending to do for years. I have registered to donate my organs on the event of my death. I have spoken to my family, telling them this is what I want, if something ever happens to me, and I have asked them to all consider it too.
If anyone is interested https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/ has all the information.
I understand this is a very personal choice, but I thought someone might be interested.
Hope I haven't offended anyone xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Islandmaid I did this when the register went online, have carried a donor card since I was 18
VJs Mum are you able to ensure that the trustees won't be jointly held liable for maintenance costs...just a concern that if the house wasn't kept in good order, you might all have to cover repair bills that not everyone could pay?2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Sending gentle hugs to all those who are poorly or worried about loved ones x We can only take things one day at a time and make the most of that day.
I will be off to a funeral later for a lovely young man whose death has sent shockwaves through all of us who knew him at work or through local athletics clubs. One of the good guys who has left a big gap in many lives. Puts things into perspective doesn’t it?
As for modern conveniences, my WM would be the last thing to go. I remember my Mum with the boiler on the go for whites and everything going through the mangle. Then out on the line pretty much regardless of the weather. Things would come back in frozen solid0 -
VJsmum I'm so sorry it's worked out the way it has ((HUGS)) i suppose your Dad was doing what seemed best to him at the time. Keep telling MIL "We're not discussing that the the moment." and keep on saying it. ("We" being you and your husband.)
nargle Thinking of you both and sending ((HUGS)).
FPk Glad there is some good news. How lovely that your brother is going to able to visit them
It's only a week until I go to see my sister-in-law and was thinking last night that I must get the boarding pass out today and let her know the flight details. Looked at my emails this morning and there was one from her saying "It's not long now, don't forget to give me your flight details!"I can't decide which shoes to take; I've a nice comfy pair of H*tter Mary Janes, but they are a pale stone colour and likely to get spoiled if it rains. I'll put a double dose of waterproofing spray on them, I think.
ETA alfsmum Just seen your post. How sad when someone like that leaves us so suddenly. I hope the funeral goes as well as possible.0
