    Morning all,

Bright, Sunny and warm here :)

I think we should put cash away for funeral arrangements etc, one thing we do want to do is sort out power of attorney for each other, I didn't realise there were 2 different sorts, so, with an updated will, it's going to cost about £500, expensive, but worth it when and if it's needed.

Re organ donation, I did sign up years ago, and did the kids too, but I have changed name and address since then, and the kids are now adults, so have been intending to reregister since I remarried 4 years ago - DH did his last night, and 2 out of the 3 kids have done it too, the 3rd has promised to get onto it.

R!se in the fridge, decent burgers defrosting, red cabbage coleslaw base made, Halloumi sliced for dinner.

I am also going to attempt Italian style picked veg as I have some bits to use up - I love picked veg :)
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Hugs to Nargle and anyone else in need.

Shopping for me today, something I tend to do every 2nd day as there is so little storage.

CHS is meeting up with his 13 year old friend for a beer and a burger, the friend isn't really 13, he's 60, same as CHS, but behaves like a stroppy teen!

We have new neighbours, they have 3 German Shepherds, must be cramped on their boat. Mind you we saw one last week with 2 Rottweilers and 5 chickens!

I shall potter about a bit today after shopping and maybe have a snooze later.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Today, on arriving home his first act was to say hello to the dog, the second was to grab the car keys and go and sit in his new toy.
And quite right too! :DSeriously though, Nargle, I will send as many pain-free vibes as I can muster for him.

In spite of all the floors being vacuumed and steam cleaned yesterday I noticed an unpleasing pattern of doggy pawprints this morning. We had a conversation about wiping our feet on the mat provided but Im not sure that the offender took it as seriously as she should.
I had a phrase to use with Penny-Dog: "Pause for your paws" - and she would wait on the doormat for her paws to be wiped. I always did it, even when they didn't actually need it, to keep her in the habit of it.

Oh, and how about nose-art on the windows? I get a lot of that; my new toy (K@rcher window vac) helps no end with this. ;)

Re funerals - we both have money set aside so that whoever goes first, t'other can fund the funeral. My requirements are very non-standard, so I doubt we'd find a funeral plan to suit, even if we wanted to pre-pay.

Just waiting for Honey to arrive now; we were told some time between 12:00 and 12:30. :o

My best mate is a bit of a clean freak and has a mad Springer called George - he was taught as a pup to wait on the mat for his paws to be wiped :) And we have a line of window art at cat-nose height on most windows in the house!

I used to know a Dalmation called George - as "George, DON'T do that!". Sadly he crossed Rainbow Bridge some years ago now; but he was a right character. He was "faulty" in that he had a huge black patch over one eye, so would have been rejected as a show dog; but he really was a super chap.

A productive day here at the fuddles.

DH has made me a cold frame using scavengened/gifted/saved off cuts of wood. All it needs now is a perspex lid and it's set to go. We're hopeful something will turn up in the skips at his work.

I have managed to get a halogen oven from a charity shop so I'm really pleased about that. It's tattered but it works. I had one years ago but it smashed in one of the moves. It means I can make my spelt bread without putting the main oven on and I'm sure some other money saving opportunities will pop up.

We have downpours and lightening/rumbling at the moment. I'm chuffed as the plot is desperate. I have spent too long weeding it today. Its really got away while I was away.

thriftmonster, I don't think you're weak, I think you're human. I do hope you enjoyed showing off. When I was divorced we lived in a big old house (which was granted to me) that had an integral flat in it. Ex, in his wisdom, had sold the flat some time ago and sneakily bought it back to live in after the divorce. (He thought I wouldnt be able to afford to live in the house and he would get the whole lot back. Wrong.) Anyway, the weekend he moved out and upstairs his 'friend' told me he was bricking it about having to cook for himself and had bought himself a frozen spag bol for his Sunday lunch. I did a roast with all the trimmings and opened all the windows so that the aroma reached him. How we all enjoyed that Sunday lunch!

LameWolf, I leave the patio doors open this weather so that Millie can potter in and out at will. I have a walled garden so she can enjoy outdoors at will.
I have no truck with show dogs. Who cares if their markings aren't perfect. Who decides what is perfect any way?
Our Dalmation Dora is very beautiful, a complete loony but beautiful. I have a lovely picture that DIL took of Dora's back view sitting to attention and watching 101 Dalmations on TV.
Honey will be with you now. Enjoy her.

Islandmaid, I too wished that people would have to opt out of organ donation rather than the present opt in.

I come from a family who couldn't care less what happens to them after death. Funerals are strictly no-fuss affairs, my parents decreed no flowers but my brother and I put some on Dads coffin because he was such a gardener. Dad also decreed no eulogies, but I ignored that and several cousins requested copies of it afterwards because they learned things about the family that they'd not heard before. What Dad did want were his favourite hymns and we did have those. And although he didn't request it he went out to "When the saints come marching in." Very appropriate for a lifelong Southampton football club follower. But no memorials, no stones or plaques and their ashes were scattered under a rose bush in the Crematorium grounds.
They both live on in our hearts, we don't need to tend a grave.
I want something similarly simple and low key. Just a good meal for everybody afterwards.

Gosh, that is all a bit gloomy for a beautiful sunny afternoon. How did I drift on to that subject?

The hound has been in twice to remind me that it is her dinner time so I'd better go and see what the chef has prepared for her. Oh, beef in gravy and Wagga biscuits. Lovely.
I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.

I love your tales of revenge!

It has been really hot here today, 26 degrees and I think I may have melted! It's raining now, much needed for the gardens and allotments and the first rain we've had in about 3 weeks. There was even a rumble of thunder, sad there wasn't more, I love a good storm.
