Gentle virtual hugs to LW. I hope the sheer number of messages here help you to see what a lovely person you are and that so many people care about you. I too have some baggage that needs to be kept shut away. I'm really not prepared to deal with it and when I get stressed it puts in an appearance. I think we all find our own way of dealing with this stuff. Look forward to Honey's visit; hopefully she will help shove everything firmly back in it's box.
VJsmum, thank you for the heads up re the bleach and baking soda for the tiles. I'll be giving that a go. I feel your pain re the washing. My girls have 2 washing baskets and it still overflows onto the floor. They know they are responsible for their own washing (youngest is 18). I seem to be a lot of socks missing so might have to go exploring , one did turn up in a load of theirs.
Have a lovely day everyone.

LW I'm saddened to read that stuff is all consuming for you at the moment. I agree that it's testament to your own strength of being that you're able to identify and recognise these periods. I wish you a speedy journey to equilibrium.
FPK some news that is a little more positive for you while the tests are being assembled. I'm sorry you're having to go through this slowly without much knowledge.
Yes, the great Western Scottish midge is lovin' me. I'm used to them given our frequent trips to visit father-in-law all these years but they never fail to shock and irritate!
Anyone know why they go for certain folks and not others. The other 3 fuddles never get bitten <<<<<<< this fuddle is nursing 12 itch spots:cool:0 -
You've been beaten again monna. Yourthought for today was good but Islandmaid's remark was a real belly laugh.
I have been imagining Milly as brown, long hair and fat. What a contrast. She now reminds me of a sheepdog I used to take for walks, looked just like her though maybe longer hair. He was terrified of sheep and most other animals. I had taken him on a long circular walk. Near the end of the walk we had to walk through a field of cows. He just would not budge and I was not going back the way we came as it was about 10 miles.
I was all of 6 stone and he was at least 8 stone so it was quite struggle to carry him through that field. Of course being cows they all came to see why this silly woman was carrying a great big dog.
FPK yes I change supplier of my contents insurance every year, but I have the same policy by the same company. What usually happens is my present supplier quotes with at least a 60% increase with a totally different company. I mostly use Swinton, they don't appear to be on the comparisons website this year. I get another company to do it the next year and then back to Swinton the next.
I tried the Googling the insurance company my policy usually comes from and got about 2 million hits. None of the first page were anything like insurance. No way am I going through that many, next years renewal will have come up by then.
Some want to insure me for a minimum of £150,000. Most it is £250,000. No way am I ever going to be able to buy that much before I die never mind get it into the flat. My contents are worth no more than about £10,000. The only small policy available this year is for students living in one room.
If I did have a fire or a burglary, I would go to Emmaus, BHF, or the Mental Health Teams shop as they all have lots of furniture. I would only buy new clothes, a new bed and new appliances.
softstuff, I am sure you are just immune to the reaction, I became immune when we were in Singapore but it came back the following summer after we came back home. We don't have biting insects for long enough each year here to develope any immunity.0 -
Popping on to sent best wishes and healing thoughts to Lamewolf xx0

Morning all
I've come back to bed in disgust, accompanied by a mug of coffee, my book and my faithful companion.
Ivyleaf, she is indeed short haired, although you'd never believe that if you saw the state of the dark brown suede sofa after she has had a sneaky roll on it.
She is also all white except for one black ear, a black patch over one eye and a black nose. She weighs about a ton of muscle, bone, fat and a lot of internal metal that is keeping her all joined together.
Softstuff, have you ever experienced Sottish midges? The Spanish Inquisition is child's play compared with the damage those little blighters can inflict.
LameWolf. All my thoughts and love are with you. Just one foot in front of the other today.
I don't know what is happening today. Life is an adventure when you don't have plans so I'll come back later and tell you what I have done, if anything, apart from trying to dry the washing I have embarked on.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
'Vegetarian' is the old Indian word for 'Bad Hunter'.
I’m going to the Isle of Wight on Tuesday, if I take a magnet, I might find Monna’s alarm clock walking about, with all that metal she won’t be hard to find ...Carolbee0 -
Thank you all so very much; it means a great deal to me that so many peeps have taken the bother to post good wishes.
I am very stressed at present worrying about Mr LW's health, which is taking up some of the resources I normally have to keep a lid on the carp.
I do use displacement activity as much as possible, but you can't do that 24/7; and it's at night - 3 am usually - that it's worst.
My dog-sitting is my lifeline; dogs are so non-judgemental, and I can honestly say I've never met a dog I didn't like. I can't wait for Honey to arrive Saturday lunchtime. She's as sweet as her name!
I also do knitting and cross stitch when the arthritic paws allow.
I'm not a fan of tv (plus Mr LW selects our viewing, so I have to watch whatever he's chosen) - I have to be doing something else as well (eg knitting or cross stitch) or I get restless; but I do like video gaming, although I feel guilty that it's not a "productive" activity.
Anyways - Mr LW saw Dr I. at the surgery this morning, who is going to refer him to yet another specialist; and he's been told "neuropathy".
Now, this puzzles me - his symptoms are weakness in his left side, dragging his left foot, and uncontrollable shaking of his left hand.
I have a constant burning sensation in my hands and feet, as though they were on fire; and if Mr LW goes to hold my hand it bloomin' hurts and I was also told this was "neuropathy" by Dr F. and given Gabapentin for it (it didn't help and had horrendous side effects so I had to stop taking it but that's another story).
So I can only assume that "neuropathy" is some sort of blanket term that covers a multitude of sins.
Oh well, we'll see what the specialist comes up with - no idea how long we'll wait for an appointment, but at least we're a step further on.LM are you physically ok? The reason I ask is that I have found recently the merest hint of an UTI and my brain goes haywire and endless historical crap goes on endlessly.THOUGHT FOR TODAY
'Vegetarian' is the old Indian word for 'Bad Hunter'.
Oh - and Scottish midges - I have recently heard the theory that they all of them carry tiny pneumatic drills with them. Nasty things!
I don't know if it will aid anyone, but I was told by another Lupie to eat Marmite daily (luckily I love the stuff) as it makes you less palatable to the blighters. Obviously whatever it was that spiked me on the face recently hadn't read that memo!
Right, I'm off to turn on my pm option, as Mardatha wants to hear from peeps with wheelchair experience. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
LW neuropathy just means something to do with your nerves. That is physical nerves not your mind. He will have written to a neurologist to make an appointment for Mr LW.
Yours will be a slight irritation of a nerve from your arthritis in your neck. There are dozens of different medication you can have for it. Pregabalin gave me all sorts of weird symptoms. I would go back to the doctor and ask for something else. I would give you a list because doctors don't like you asking for something specific. Everyone reacts differently to different medication.
I'm sure what ever bit or stung you on the cheek is a lot bigger than a midge or a mossie.0 -
LW Mr ivyleaf has a numb right foot and large area of his right lower leg, due to an old spinal injury followed by surgery. He can't feel the foot or leg if they're touched, but sometimes gets severe pain there. That's also neuropathy, apparently!
Just been to a well-known shoe shop to collect a pair of sandals. Sadly they are not a good fit and will have to go back tomorrow. I have a very comfy pair of Merrell trekking sandals, but the open-toed compression stockings I have now are shorter in the foot than previous pairs (no idea why) and are just too short to tuck them under the strap, so they ride up and form an uncomfortable ridge all round my instep.
Oh well, I'm visiting SIL in Germany soon and I may have better luck over there. They're very good at comfy walking sandals, even if some of them do look very orthopaedic0 -
I don't know I go out to have coffee with a friend ( I do have one ) and when I get back you are all casting aspidistras at my underwear, such as it is!
And no I don't hang it where it can be seen I don't want to scare the cows.Chin up, Titus out.0
