FPk I got a couple of nasty bites on my arm when I nipped into the garden to get the washing in on Saturday. They are finally looking and feeling better, after using hydrocortisone cream and antihistamine cream alternately! They've been incredibly itchy. I hope you can help yours feel better, and that there's some concrete news from France today xx
monnagran I used to imagine Millie was long-haired, but now find myself visualising her as a sort of cross between a boxer and a moose, but I'm not sure if I'm just remembering your own description of her?I hope you enjoy your busy day.
silva have a lovely holiday!
Did anyone see the programme about the 11+ last night? We're in the area featured on the programme. DD2 is agonising over whether to put DGD in for the test or not - she is very clever, but has recently been diagnosed with dyslexia....she's just becoming more confident now that she knows there's a reason why she's always had problems with reading.0 -
Funny advice I had from a dermatologist regarding itching was to put on hydrocortisone then a wet dressing over. However I have no idea if it works, since after years of gigantic reactions to insect and mozzie bites (4 inch black swollen bruising in some cases), the reaction just stopped. In fact, if hubby is bitten now, he comes up worse than me. Damned if I know why since I'd tried every repellent and remedy known to man.
Sending hugs FPK, hoping that not much news is good news.
We zumba'd and went out shopping today, looking for new jeans for me. As usual, when you're actually looking for something, no joy. Quite bemused by the lady in one jeans store, who, when unable to fit me (I can't wear tight pants because of my leg and the mens pants she had just gaped at the back), suggested that in that case I was obviously unfittable and should try a belt :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
My DH got bit while away on a course last week, on the fleshy bit between thumb & 1st finger last week, he said it was really itchy & swollen and one of his neck glands came up...I asked if he had malaria cover in his life insurance2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

DH did say he'd need more antibac gel to clean up the rusty saw if I was looking at amputation. I used to keep various creams but seem to rarely get bites here. They were all out of date so chucked them.
Softstuff you have my sympathy on jeans shopping.0 -
Morning...
sorry to hear you're suffering FPK and hope you get good news soon.
Silva, have a fab holiday.
I am trying to muster up the courage to visit c/fone w/house for advice for my dad (other suppliers/advisers are available)
He is 92 and suffers from macular degeneration. He still gets about as he is fiercely independent, which is great but we do worry about him not being able to contact us in an emergency. A couple of times he has needed help because of something not working on his mobility scooter but fortunately these were times when help was available.
Anyway.............I managed to get him a special mobile phone that only has four buttons on the front which speed dial myself and three other family members. He knows which order these are in and can manage them.
My daughter bought him a pay as you go sim card (I know nothing about these things) and I topped him up with £10 . Sorted!!
Oh no......because he only uses it for emergencies he didn't need it for a few weeks only to check it and found it not working. It turns our the £10 only lasted a month. Silly me!!
So, I've topped him up with another tenner but now I need help in trying to track down a way to pay for minutes that last until he has used them. This could be six months or more. Everything seems set up for 'bundles' of texts and data, which of course, he doesn't need. Aaarrrgh!!!0 -

A great suggestion, but the funny part is, we went into the shop where we usually buy his pants (it's an Australian and New Zealand only brand) and tried on the slim fit in his size. Only this season for some bizarre reason the slim fit now isn't slim, but tight as leggings (hubby tried them too and did a great Max Wall impression), whilst the straight cut is baggy. Anyhoo, perhaps some charity shopping tomorrow will yield a bit better joy! And just as an aside, I contacted the company to find out what on earth they're thinking this year.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Tinydancer, try 3. They had a sim only package where the minutes didn't run out, maybe they still do.Spend less now, work less later.0

I think try 3 as well.
DH has it for his phone and it doesn't run out.0
