MaryB & Nargle - very best wishes for a speedy recovery for both your OH's.
Nargle - bald is beautiful! Yul Brynner, Bruce Willis, Vin Diesel?
As it's naked gardening today I think I'll get me legs out and take my thermal tights off- that will be enough to be going on withSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I am *not* participating in naked gardening day. What with the mosquitoes, itchy caterpillars, snakes and other assorted wildlife it's an activity requiring quite a bit of cover up. Though I do confess to be all "Charlie Dimmock" in the garden, I fail to see why anyone should wear a bra during that kind of manual labour.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

I hope Mr Nargle and Mr Mary are feeling better today. The late, great Mr Cranky may have survived if he was home when his chest pains started. Unfortunately he was 12 miles off the coast of The Falklands in a big grey ship and I got the dreaded knock on the door by people in uniform..... I'm so happy that MrM was spotted in time and I have my fingers crossed for Mr Nargle's results too.
It's sunny here so the washing is on and can go on the line when it's done and I have 5 minutes of sitting down time left before I have to get up and do something. As it's dry and the hoover is downstairs I'm going to vacuum and clean the inside of the car. After that I'll do a bit of gardening. The grass needs cutting again and there will no doubt be weeds if I look closely. I've also planted lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, peas, raspberries, butternut squash and a few flowers. The rhubarb is growing well and the blackberry bush that I planted last year seems to have cheered up. It's always a good idea to check that the things that live in the garden aren't eating the things that I'm trying to grow before we do :rotfl: I will not be naked gardening. When I spent two days in the garden last month I wore my old jeans which are now too big and ended up with a stripe of sunburn across my (very) lower back. The HT lay on the floor and laughed when he saw it. Anything more intimate parts acquiring sunburn may be the end of him.
I fell asleep with a vision of Mar's "sheepies" in my head last night. Lovely!0 -
Let's hope that as the hours go by you'll be scratching 'nearly' off the description nargle and you'll your man back fully. So sorry to read that a health crisis has hit your family too.
Thank goodness I'm hours away from the plots today then!
How did I manage it nm? I don't suffer fools. I don't respect him as a person, nor a man so it was easy for me to expel the irk that he causes me when I was furious to learn he had reduced a single woman of 50 year old to tears. He's bully, not very intelligent and disrespectful to women. Enough was enough and as I'm quiet, respectful and have some intelligence I knew he would either recoil like bullies do because they essentially are weak and lack confidence or he would blow and it would give me an excuse to completely ignore him and get on with gardening in peace.
I'm not afraid of people whom I don't respect.0 -

At least he is getting more like his old self and is optimistic. He was even talking about getting a wig if he had to have chemo. Anyway, onwards and upwards.Nargleblast wrote: »Today, May 5th, is designated as World Naked Gardening Day, so take note when on your allotments, Fuddle and Greyqueen.....
Who on earth comes up with these outlandish ideas?

I found a yellow tennis-ball-sized soft spongy ball in the middle of the back lawn today. Not a scooby where it's come from. If it was an actual tennis ball, I'd put it in the "dog drawer" but it's not suitable for a dog, it's so soft that a dog would rip it to shreds in minutes.
So I've shoved it in the chazzer box and told Mr LW if anyone lays claim to it, that's where it is. If no-one does, it'll go to the chazzer in due course - it looks new.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Don't feel guilty. I gave it up for Lent a good few years back and I've never taken it up again. You can't fix the world for everyone no matter how much you'd like to and life is a balance of good and bad, happy and miserable. If there were only happy posts on here or only miserable posts there wouldn't be the right balance. I think that the majority of people on here have had hard times if not at the moment then at some point or points in the past.
I'm OK just now - happy and settled and despite being a solo parent to a teenager I have a lovely friend (he is just a friend, honestly)who I can ask for advice and talk things over with so I'm lucky. I would never begrudge anyone their own happiness and continue to hope that anyone having a hard time finds their happiness at some point (as soon as possible please if any of the greater powers of which we know so little are watching/listening).
Enjoy the good times - you've earned them.0 -
I've just been on the allotment, everyone was fully dressed! In fact most had jumpers and coats on as it's still quite chilly up here - a heady 12 degrees in fact. A bonus is that it has stayed dry.
So sorry to hear that your DH is unwell Nargleblast, I hope he makes a full recovery. I remember being in quite an important school meeting with my DH when he was having chemo. He took off his wooly hat to reveal a very white bald head. The other members of the meeting had quite a shock seeing him but I suppose he didn't need to tell anyone of his condition after that.0 -
No naked gardening for us here and there are too many people around to try naked boating.
We left Newbury this morning and have moored at Midgham, we will stay here for a while.
Huge hugs to those who are unwell, islandmaid, it's always nice to hear good news from people.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I did garden today...but fully clothed.
Hugs to all who need themx0 -
Didn't manage to find OH a birthday present at the craft show, but all three of us enjoyed ourselves, and DD1 and I had time for a good chat, which doesn't happen very often
There were some girls from a local school selling cacti as part of a "Young Enterprise" thing, so i bought one to encourage them - not had a cactus for years.
Afterwards we went back to hers for a cuppa and to see DSIL before coming home. A very pleasant day.0
