Thanks Andrea, welcome back everyone!
I have heard of Flanders & Swann but my favourite oldie is Joyce Grenfell singing 'Stately As A Galleon' (It has another name too but I'm not sure what it is), makes me laugh every time.
We've had a little sunshine here, enough to plant onions at the allotment. I so enjoyed being outside in the fresh air with just a t shirt on. Hope it lasts.0 -
My favourite is Wilson & Kepple in the sand shuffle song0

Joe Kepple was my ex's great uncleChin up, Titus out.0

I'm trying to catch up . I'm ignoring the earworms , I've had You can call me AL in my head since the Monica incident . Marginally preferable to Morningtown ride I suppose .
nannywindow I hope your flare has calmed down and the breathing is easier now .It can be so stressful with workmen around and fitting around their time scales . As they're on the last lap the end is in sight . Think of lovely windows and doors and a job done .
Emptynester . I had to retire early and quite honestlyit was the best thing I could have done . Money was tight but like yourself I had the OS knowledge and we got through . Good luck we'll cheer you on .
fuds I forgot to say I'm glad you have a friend now on the lottie . Mr PS will need to watch his words . Any sightings yet of the poor little pea shoots ? Take it easy do a bit then sit for a bit .
I went out earlier to do some gardening then heard the distinctive sound of Skylarks so ended up watching them rising high . Some swallows also but there will be more . I didn't get much weeding done but i did recharge my batteries just doing not much .
A bit of standing and staring I suppose although i ended up sitting down with a brew .
Hopefuljoy I hope things are ok with you and your dds appointment went well .

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
I have to admit to channelling Joyce at times:

I wondered where we'd gone! Just thought everybody had better things to do! No sign of Mrs Blackbird - hope she hasn't decided to build a third nest! No skylarks here but I did see a heron flying over today - probably!y looking for a nice well a locked pond. Only skimmed through so hope Monna remained tight lipped with regards to the biscuits
Welcome to Emptynester - I'll shove up a bit to make room.
Camelot - I like Joyce Grenfell too 'George, don't do that!' And I like Jake Thackeray - 'O sister Josephine, what a funny nun you are' I also enjoyed some of Stanley Holloway's monologues.
Busy busy day but lots done and got to sit in the sunshine with a glass of wine - well satisfied with thatSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
So glad we're back, it was quite discombobulating.
Monna, I'll be back to 5:2'ing with you, once I've gotten my weight down a bit more. Even if you don't lose much weight with it, the health benefits otherwise are great (and it makes the next meal taste so much better!)
I'll have to have a listen to Paddy Roberts when hubby gets up. We love Tom Lehrer too Hester, Poisoning pigeons in the park.... Mardatha I can't hear sand shuffle without thinking of an old chap that used to go to the local Irish club, he'd do the dance then sing "Sheik of Araby" and then at an opportune moment, slap the back of his head and catch his false teeth on a tin tray :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Thanks Polly my wrist is still painful but the anti- inflammatories help, plus I have it strapped up. My breathing is also easier today but then there are no workmen about, as they are waiting for the plaster to dry. The window man is due Monday morning to finish off...... I hope. I didn't think it would be so blummin stressful
.
Silvasaver my favourite Stanley Holloway monologue is the one about the Lion eating Albert :rotfl:. The Joyce Grenfell monologue that sticks in my mind is the "nursery flowers" and a child wanting to be a cauliflower. Having worked with small people I wasn't surprised as once we had children talking about their pets, cat, dog, bunny etc......... and a giraffe :rotfl:. The conversation quickly went down hill until we had one child who had a dinosaur as a pet !
We have spent most of the day moving our caravan to a different storage pitch, one that is easier for us to get in and out. Came home shattered and as black as the road as I had the job of crawling on the ground passing the straps for the cover, under the caravan. Trouble was I had difficulty getting back up and had to get the help of DH . I ain't no spring chicken anymore, that's for sure :rotfl:.
Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather. Take care all.

Mr PS has his peas outside but they're the same height as my first batch and I didn't sow mine in the greenhouse until the first real bad snow was long gone. Now call me cynical but I think they've either been sown again or the really hot polytunnel was too cold for germination after all. He has shards of glass surrounding them creating a mini greehouse so I don't stand a chance in keeping up with him but as long as I get a crop I'll be happy. He' said in Tenerife for 10 days at the moment so it's very peaceful.
I've got DH for the day tomorrow so he'll be doing the physical stuff. Don't be worrying pollution, i'm a long way off from mallet wielding yet
I learnt something this evening. 1 onion set produces 1 onion and I've been a bit 'meh' at the space they take for something that is relatively OK to buy in the shops but plant 1 shallot set and you get 10 in return. And you can get red variety. I'll be switching next year.
Just bare with me until late autumn friends. I'll shush about the plot once I get my first year over with. II know I'm boring!
Er polly? You're called pollution.:eek:0 -
Fuddle - you may be many things but never boring
I've grown veg of one sort or another for years and didn't know shallots produce more than 1 per plant so you've taught an old dog something!
