I was thinking, I'm sure it isn't that long ago I saw a post from her :o In any case, she can now join the ranks of famous celebrities, memorialised before her time.

Hope everyone has a peaceful Easter. It's a traditional Queensland one here, it's likely to rain the whole weekend. Good for the plants (and weeds).

Off to go buy many chilli sauces today from the Asian grocery store. It's a drive, but worth it. There's a particular fermented Korean one (no idea what it would be called, there's only Korean on the tub) that makes the easiest most spectacular stir fry with just a little soy sauce added. Wonderful stuff.

It was a quiet Good Friday here. Cool, -12 most of the day and light snow flurries. This winter seems to be never ending. To cheer us up, I bought a bunch of carnations.

Oldest son should be home tonight. He's been back east on a course. A student this time not an instructor. So if anyone needs a bridge built or destroyed, my boy's your man, lol.

WonderCollie is feeling his age. Turns out his problem isn't his hind legs, it's his two front hips. He hasn't been comfortable going down stairs since October. At his welldog visit, his doctor explained that the front hips are the weakest and that the problem is he's afraid that they won't support his weight going downstairs. So he's got doggie pain pills for his bad days.

I went full time at work at Christmas. It was the only way I could permanent day shift. The nights and evenings were taking too much out of me. I've lost two inches off my hips, the waist is getting a bit smaller. It's amazing what eating at regular times can do for you. My pal who retired in September gave me the cheerful news today that Canadian nurses have a serious rate of heart disease.

So may Easter bring new life to your gardens and joy to your hearts. This year I'm trying giant sunflowers and sweet peas, if the snow ever leaves.

Oh Monna - woke up this morning and the penny had dropped!! Our JackieO is very much alive and kicking thank goodness - my senior moment ;)
Weather report is drier for today and tomorrow so hopefully she will be able to get out and about.

Traffic jams on the canal! I like it.

Nice to hear from you wondercollie. It's good to get news from the frozen prairie. You may have heard that we, over here in the tropics, had our own little taste of frozeness this year. It was temporary, except for Mar who is still suffering, but we can sympathise with you now that we know a bit more about how it feels.
All best wishes for WonderCollie too. I also have a dog, nothing as intelligent as a collie sadly, who has back legs made largely of metal so finds stairs a challenge. I don't know what breed she is, American Boxer/Hippo I think, but she is enormous and ungainly. Even more so since, under the illusion that she is a regular dog, she leapt, twisting, in the air after a ball and did something terrible and very expensive to her spine, which is now fused. Going up and down stairs is quite something to witness but anything approaching a giggle from her humans occasions a very hard, Paddington-like stare.

Softstuff, please don't tease us with accounts of goodies, like Korean chilli sauce, which we don't have a chance of finding over here. Like exotic ice creams, it is cruel to taunt us.

Just had a fleeting glimpse of the sun, but the black clouds have taken over again. Nevertheless the village emporium must be visited because I am almost out of eggs and Easter is the wrong time to be eggless.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

    What do we want?

    PROCRASTINATION.

    When do we want it?

    NEXT WEEK.

Mental note to myself . Never come back from a short break and flip rapidly through recent posts !
Although I can picture JackieO laughing her head off at reports of her early demise it threw me for a moment . The matriarch of OS no less Silva  .

I'm wondering if you've been hitting the button this morning Floss to get tickets for the tower next Saturday . I wont be able to go and I've realised it's impossible to not find out the end of John and Kayleighs story before it's shown on TV .

Well I need to catch up . Gentle pats for dear Wondercollie ( the one that barks ) I hope the doggy pills ease his discomfort . Very glad to hear the new working hours are going well WC . Wishing you sunflowers and sweet peas in abundance and a good year ahead for you and yours .

Just for you Monna, though I enjoy taunting you sometimes, in this instance these are readily available (and these are the exact ones I got today):
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Daesang-Sunchang-Gochujang-Pepper-500g/dp/B013HB0CC4
    and
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Huy-Fong-Foods-Chili-Garlic/dp/B000LO25RG/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1522484773&sr=1-2&keywords=chilli+garlic+sauce

They seem pretty dear, but a little goes a long way (unless like me you put the chilli garlic sauce on everything).

a dessert spoon of each, with a dessert spoon of soy sauce, add into the end of stir frying some veg and meat, no other seasonings necessary and it's awesome.

Also, as an added bonus, do the same, then add a dessert spoon of fish sauce and a dessert spoon of olive oil for a really good asian noodle salad dressing.

And if you're already on amazon, check this out:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Laoganma-Chilli-Sauce-with-Beancurd/dp/B008U164SI/ref=sr_1_13_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1522485040&sr=1-13&keywords=laoganma

deeeelicious, again in stir frys or just even with some scrambled eggs if you're a chilli lover.
