Monna, have you tried frozen banana "ice cream"?

For the uninitiated, peel a nana (fairly ripe one), cut it into chunks and pop it in a bag in the freezer and, err, freeze :D. When you want ice cream, remove nana and leave for a few minutes to soften. Put in bowl and use a stick blender and ice cream emerges. You can add stuff, my fave is peanut butter, but you can add cocoa powder, vanilla, fruit...
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I am with softstuff the Icecream maker is to be treasured, my current favourite to Salted Caramel flavour - barely a calorie in it

Gran how terribly sad, those poor families x

Nursemaggie Your excitement comes out in your words, I, along with everyone else has everything crossed for you both x

It was DH's birthday yesterday and I treated him to a Spa day, bought with a voucher from a local site, it was great - back massage and full use of the spa, finished with an afternoon tea with a glass of bubbly.
We met with the 'kids' for a Chinese in the evening, and DD announced that she has been accepted for her Nurse training - we are so proud of her, as she disliked school and left with very few decent grades, even though she has always wanted to be a nurse. She has spent the past few years working like a mad thing to get the grades she needed whilst working as a career, then theatre assistant in hospital - she really deserves this :)

Having a 'fridge clear' meal today Spanish omelette with LO potato salad and green salad

    Hello all
Softstuff if the ice cream is part of the 5 a day, I'm also on board :D
Gran3 Such awful news, my heart goes out to the parents. So sad.
NM I do hope you and DS get the flats. Surely you are due some good news. I have everything crossed for you, even my eyes which is a bit disconcerting for DH :rotfl:.
I have enjoyed all the animal stories too. Makes a change from simon's cat videos to cheer me up. Thank you :j.
    Hugs to all.

Just popping on for a health update. I've had a phone call from a gp about my last blood results. My CRP has dropped and is ok but my white blood count is still elevated even though it's also dropped. I'm no medical whizz kid but I'm taking it as progress and, we know that I'm dealing with inflammation so a raised WBC isn't surprising to me. I'm to repeat the bloods again in 2 weeks. Keep on keeping on :)

gran3 So sorry to hear the news. Your poor neighbour, not to mention the girls' families :(

mehefin How nice to have you with us along the fence :)

Will carry on praying! If the flat does turn out to be really small, don't forget Grey Queen lives in a teeny flat which seems to be even smaller than where you are atm, so I'm sure she will be able to offer tips if needed :)

monnagran Love the thought for Today! By the way, I remember you saying a while ago that Pickle was distraught that she didn't need glasses; our 10-year-old DGD has recently learnt she needs them for reading and looking at the board at school. When she told her friends, their reaction was "Ooh! Cool!" How things have changed, even since her Mum and Auntie started wearing them at around that age!

IslandMaid Well Done to your DD :T

    Hester How's the ankle today?

    fuddle
That doesn't sound too bad. thinking of you.

    Mardatha

Brrrr, we've done 4 miles today in pouring rain and sleet, we've moored up at Guyers lock, changed into dry clothes and had some soup for lunch.
The log burner is roaring away and we will soon be warm.
Yesterday's rest day did my ankle the world of good, it's no longer swollen and almost pain free, despite falling A over T in the mud at Benham lock.
Welcome mehefin, gran3 how awful, Fuddle take care, Mar is the RV ok?

He's a bit better today I think, but has been really quite low. Very grey and white looking and very weak. Hopefully that's him on the mend now. He's in shock at how hard it was to bounce back from this, as he's usually so strong. Thanks for asking after him Fencers xx
Was a lovely day up here today although really cold. Lot of snow and sleet forecast between tomorrow and Wed though so the garden goes back on hold.

Awful day today. Two local 18 year old girls killed in an Rta. One was an neighbours girlfriend. Just bloody tragic.

I'm guessing this is the two girls in Basingstoke referred to on the BBC website. Not found for 7 hours, how dreadful.

gran3 how dreadful sympathies to the families.

We started off with a lovely day really sunny, had my dressing gown off within a few minutes.

Went to town early afternoon and it came over cloudy and two overcoats colder in the next hour. By the time I finished in the market it was sleeting. I was glad to get home. I seem to be suffering from quite a bad allergy am struggling to breath. I think it must be dust because we have started sorting stuff. Looks like I will have to vacuum everything in sight because I can't get anything done for my streaming eyes and nose. Think I ought to have bought some paper masks while I was in the chemists.

Glad the RV is feeling a little better. mar.

Sounds like progress to me fuddle It's not going to clear up over night you have had it so long. If they weren't so quick to discharge you as soon as your toes touch the ground they might have noticed it earlier.
