I'd forgotten about moving the chickens Greenbee so it would have to be a wooden coop for ease of relocation .
How are you today Mar? Hope you feel a bit better now . As you've been baking it seems you have more energy . Are you going to get the golden ticket ?
Glad to see fil had a good day yesterday and no sliding or anything else occurred MMM.
Floss did you ever visit The Lavender Barn in Dunham Massey? We used to pop in on our trips to Tatton . Last time there was a guy in one of the barns upcycling furniture , as usual I pinched his ideas but didn't buyI looked up the barn yesterday and sadly there has been one of those NT things happening and the tenants have had their home and business taken away . They worked so hard so although the cafe is still going after a fashion I wont be going back .
I always go to the village in Knutsford and pick up idaes but don't buy much .
A tradition is we do the Cranford Walk not in a proper tour but wander up to the house Elizabeth Gaskell lived in passing Miss Matty's cottage and all the houses of the characters .

fuddle
The bullying cowardly old gits!!!!!! Big hug.
I would be tempted to look at it as a blessing in disguise as you can now plan for a movable chicken coop on big wheels. Bought in a store they cost hundreds of pounds and I am sure DH could make a good sturdy copy.
Now you know you have a nitpicker you can plan for ways of circumventing complaints. Or even look forward to them as a way of getting advice from the warden over a flask of tea and home made hob nobs.;)
I would not even give the "gent" ( heavy sarcasm) the satisfaction of knowing he had got to you and if anyone mentions the coop say you had realised it was best that it was more easily resited as you had done more research.
Head held high. Make friends with the other lady and seem unaware of the sniping. It will annoy the hell out of them.
Don't let the you know whats grind you down as you are worth a dozen of them (or more)."This site is addictive!"

Fuddle what an old git.. I favour the 'love bombing' technique and with your most winning smile and loudest voice ask him if his issue is with the coop or your gender - then ask for his input on the coop, what with him being an expert, and you, a lowly newbie - I would also start referring to him as 'Monty' as he is so obviously a gardener extraordinaire xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I used to make home made pizza wheels for dds and their friends when they were younger as they were a nice cheap snack.
Middle dd has a friend who got married a few months ago and has asked the caterer to make pizza wheels as a starter as she loved mine so much.:o
When we had our wedding blessing a couple of years ago, it had to be arranged quickly so found a lovely meaningful location for the reception and had the same meals for everyone (chicken I think) with another choice for vegetarians etc. It meant a really fast service and clear up and hassle free."This site is addictive!"

Fuddle I am as indignant as everyone else that he should treat our fuddle so badly. Don't you dare give up on your chickens because of him.
I love the idea of the picnic at Tatton Park. I read up on it not long after we moved here. Is there any public transport that goes anywhere near?
Burtha I think you have every reason to dig your heels in and refuse to move until your youngest finishes school. Perhaps we should put him in fuddles chicken coop with her nasty neighbour.0 -
Honestly Fuddle, I didn't realise that a requirement of being allowed to till the soil was a Y chromosome. You live and learn.
I'm with Islandmaid, killing with kindness is so much more effective than confrontation. A box of HM biscuits and a note thanking the petty old dinosaur for his help in making you realise that you should have made a movable co-op, will get right up his nose and show you to be the thoroughly nice person that you are. Win win.
Don't give up on your hens. They can be real characters, the eggs are brilliant and the compost that they produce is pretty good too.
As for weddings, the best one I remember was one that a friend of mine, a single, cash strapped mum, produced for the eldest of her 3 girls.
The bride wore a pretty summer dress, as did her bridesmaid. They carried posies of flowers from their garden. The church flower fairies decorated the church for them and after the ceremony we all returned to her garden where we had a cream tea.
Of all the weddings I have attended, from register offices to beaches to cathedrals, this is the one that sticks in my memory and the one I enjoyed the most.
Hope today isn't too bad burtha. xI believe that friends are quiet angels

Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
NM I've only ever been by car but there is a coach option probably too expensive . Floss will probably have information on buses having lived in the area . We've generally made a full day starting with the flower show , Dunham Massey and Knutsford . The flower show prices would make your eyes water DD1 used to pay for the tickets as part of my birthday present .It is a long journey from Bolton .
Has your son started the job yet? and any idea when the heating installation will begin ?
Hope all is well with you Ivyleaf .
I have had a wasp in my kitchen all morning and all attempts to shoo it out have failed . I recently bought one of those fly zapper things . I don't like killing anything but it was intended for any passing bluebottles which are the cockroach version of the fly world . Because of both farm and marshland we do see a lot of mozzies and bluebottles and I have no issues sending them to their maker . I think the wasp will have to go but am now trying to remember the safe place I put the pack of batteries to stop them being used for something else . Safe places are my nemesis I'm good at thinking them up but fail on the memory front .

Polly ditto on the safe places. DS is as bad because he has lost the towel rails for the bathroom. I am hoping he will find them when he takes down his bed for the central heating to go in.
No start date for the Bakery. DS has been on one training day with them and 3 with Aldi but run by the local council.
He starts proper job training with Aldi tomorrow he has a uniform and went for boots yesterday. The job centre say he has to do the training with Aldi until he gets a starting date for the Bakery. No starting dates for either as they are both new starts. I don't think, the place he would be working in, is finished building with Aldi.
No sign of the central heating yet. The gas people dug a trench two weeks ago and have done nothing else. I have a feeling it may be winter before we get the central heating. DS said yesterday that he thought summer finished a couple of weeks ago. Inclined to agree it has rained every day since DD came in July. Neither of us have been our without a jacket since then.0 -
Fuddle...from my many years of experience of geezers on allotments...in a few years time, they'll all be eating out of your hands, esp. Mr Grumpy. Just get on with growing and be seen to clean your tools and sharpen your hoe.
A hen house on wheels will be great. .try to make the floor rat proof...there are always rats on allotment sites.
The folks on the greenfingered part of the forum might also be a source of help and encouragement and of course GQ0
