No fuddle I only said jumbo rolled oats. Someone else said steel cut. I was just suggesting another way of eating oats. Buying the ready made muesli you will get wheat as well. I thought you were avoiding that.

If you try using up the instant stuff it will still go mushy and give you the same consistency as porridge. You could put a tiny amount in every time you make it up. I don't like the commercial stuff because the add sugar.

Drat at kidney pain. I completely understand the added anxiety of the snow. Oh mar :( sending you hanging on in there vibes! Come on woman, you can beat it...just sit still and do nowt ;)

Thanks NM. I understand. Yes, I avoid shop bought muesli because of the wheat flakes you thought right. I can get along OK with more liquidy porridge so I think I'll just add more milk. I'll get used to like I got used to my beloved cuppa tea made with skimmed goats milk :rotfl:

I've got a cold that's why vitC kittie. And the pain is how an adrenal crisis first presents. But the good bit is that it's eased and I'm no worse.
Funny how these things always seem to come out of the woodwork on a Friday night eh!

Vit C has no effect on a cold whatsoever mar all it will do is make you pea more.

I would stick to your usual tea. I am sure you cannot possibly be short of vitC.

I've got fedup of the taste anyway maggie - the Costco vitC is orange flavoured and I hate orange. More tea I think! But not getting worse so that's good. Horrible wild night out there, hope all Fencers are cosy indoors x

I leave you lot alone for a day and the thread turns into Emergency Ward 10. Remember that?

As a very old lady I used to visit said about diet, "Everything in moderation, dear. Except chocolate."
Indeed, when she was moved into a nursing home she had a tiny pink fridge in her room, just for her supplies of chocolate.

I didn't get as much done today as I'd hoped. Every interruption you could think of. Finally, at 3.pm there was knock at the door and Pickle hurled herself into my arms. DS2 had been helping the tree surgeon at a clients house and had a stupendous bonfire going that he dared not leave. Pickle was going home with her friend, but hzving got there she said she wanted to come to me because she didnt feel very well. However, she made a miraculous recovery after a couple of slices of toast and bramble jelly and insisted we played a new game.
This consisted of each of us drawing a picture and the other having to guess what it was. This was made slightly difficult as we weren't allowed to actually look at the picture.
We had a hilarious time until DS2 arrived, whereupon she became all droopy and pathetic again. Kids!

I will have to be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to do all the things I didn't get done today.

Take it easy Mar. I have a suspicion that Nursie is on the move again and you really don't want her heading in your direction, do you?

I hope you're feeling better Mardatha, we can't have you carted off in a blizzard.

Fuddle, I have switched to cream and butter too, but frankly I have a teaspoon of cream in my espresso and have had about 5g of butter in 7 days. I'm sticking with bacon now and again too. And eggs. But the amount I eat, thanks to the calorie restriction is minimal as a proportion, so don't give my arteries a thought ;) I'm eating so many greens though that I really look forward to having a full veggie garden. I love different nuts too.

I mentioned steel cut oats (pinhead oats) they're slower to digest, twice the fibre of instant oats, but more importantly, they're nice and chewy, and less like porridge! :p

So glad you went and chilled out on the allotment, gardening, or even planning to garden is great relaxation.

I think Pickle is easily led ;)

Ah, perfect softstuff. I'll get the better oats. No point doing half a job. I suppose we all have to do what is right for us and our ailments, or in Monna's case, her overactive taste buds. :D *hides!!

Sleep well and get better Mar.
