I didn't know that either! At the moment though, my onions are kept in the fridge and the potatoes in a (bought) Potato Bag from Lakeland elsewhere in the kitchen. I find they last much longer without sprouting if you make sure they are really dry after you take them out of their plastic bag, if that's what they were in when you bought them
Just seen your post VJsmum....fishy pork sounds _pale_
mind you, I like swordfish which is a "meaty" fish0 -
Morning all,
Fishy pork...oh. no. I don't think I'd like that. Ahem.
Burtha--marvellous progress! Keep going, big hugs.x
The rain is supposed to clear today, but you wouldn't know it looking out the window. I have some cozy reading based work tasks today so will sit in a chair with a lamp. I started very early today so should have the afternoon. We're also supposed to take delivery of a coatrack so will try to get that organized when I finish work. If OH doesn't complain about soup on a friday it is italian chicken soup for tea, the leftovers to be popped in the fridge to be topped with pie crust on whichever evening we have our weekend excursion. I'm not sure about lunch, we finished last night's salad--either a salad with hard boiled eggs or tuna, or tuna or cheese and chutney sandwiches.
Feeling a bit nervous today as OH is going to ring the local surgery to get us registered. I've been putting it off as I know I'll have to do the new patient health check and it always gets me wound up. I keep telling myself it is probably less than half an hour of my life. I'd be fine except they don't say on the website if they'll want blood and I'm a fainter and really afraid. Yes, I know something as tiny as that. Still, it must be done before term starts and the sooner it is done the sooner I can stop worrying about it!
We have a short walk and picnic planned, with viewing of a castle I think for either Saturday or Sunday. OH has a bit of a cold so we'll give it a miss if it is raining, but at the moment Sunday looks clear. Fingers crossed!
Hugs to all who need them.x0 -
Be careful looking in the mirror Monna, it might crack!!
Anyway I'm here now, I was looking for my bullwhip to retrain a certain badly behaved husband when you changed your minds and wanted gags and restraints instead.
Now the only place I can keep all this stuff is in the front locker on the boat which means I have to move the anchor.
Unfortunately when I lifted the anchor it proved too heavy and I tumbled head first into the locker and there I was, stuck!
This was most embarrassing as I had already donned my PVC corset & thigh boots. Hours I languished, days even, my head buried in the depths of the locker, my feet and legs, encased in red PVC flailing wildly in the air.
Eventually drawn by my starvation the circling vultures drew attention to my plight and I was rescued.
After this I needed a restorative cuppa and a packet of ginger nuts, I do love nuts of any sort!!
My table is now covered in assorted items of torture and lots of PVC, please let me know which you want me to use first and on whom.
Then I can finish sewing my curtains.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
FPK, don't worry my DD is a fainter and announces it whenever the words blood test are mentioned and they always let her lie down.
And as for potato and onion bags I don't have room for either, but then I buy my onions one at a time and my potatoes 2 at a time so they don't have time to go off.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester, thanks--I know it must be relatively common. I usually announce I'm a fainter too and if I know ahead of time whatever I'm going for will likely cause it (blood isn't the only thing, most things will do it!) I usually ask either for the last appointment or a double appointment so I don't hold everyone up. I even manage to faint lying down most times. I usually bring my own juice/coke to sip as well.0

Hester: Take every instrument of torture you can lay your hands on and turn your boat in the direction of burthas old man. Hurry! Do not pass GO. Do not collect £200. Just get there.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I feel faint at Hester's predicament!
Rooting for you here Burtha. Might start a voodoo doll. What colour is his hair??
Good Idea re the drink FPK when getting blood taken. I overheard a nurse at the hospital advising the same to a teenage girl that fainted.
So happy to hear all your news Fuddle. Your house sounds lovely.
I keep my potatoes in the fridge too in an enamel bowl out of the bag.0 -
Oooh Juliette - I do like the idea of a voodoo doll. I have some VERY long pins that would be ideal - or maybe a heavy-duty staple gun in the circumstances???Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Pack of blu tack and an opened paperclip in my desk drawer. I do like the heavy duty staple idea in a particular place though Silvasava.0

I have some long sharp hat-pins, would they be of any help with the voodoo doll?
I also have a Japanese cleaver which is so sharp it could probably cut Hester's boat in half too...will put it on the side ready for Hester to pick up on her way past!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
