  • Yaaaay... Fabulous news Fuddle very pleased things went the way they should have.. Miserable a*rses should never have let it get this far!
I had to fight to get DS2 into the secondary 5 mins down our road because of numbers, quotas and general red tape. The school strung us along for 2 bloomin months (He was home with me for that time:mad::mad:) and even after the local council said he had a space they made us wait another 4weeks, then wondered why he struggled to settle in:mad:
Hope your DD settles in well and is far less stressed! :D

Thank goodness for that fuddle, one more battle won. You must be due for a medal soon.

nursemaggie, so it ,looks as though that isn't the house for you after all. I also think that you should let it be known that you would still be interested should the present arrangement fall down. In the meantime it's on with the earmuffs again. I'm so sorry.

Anybody seriously into breadmaking? I'm looking for real old-fashioned flour, without additives or preservatives. Where do you buy it?

I thought adding calcium etc to white flour was mandatory even if it's organic?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • I buy the best flour from a living history museum that has a working water mill as part of the exhibits, you can see the mill working and watch the flour come down into the bins to be packed. It's wholemeal and delicious! If there is a working mill anywhere near you Mar it might be worth a visit?

I know nothing of the ins and outs of flour mary, just want stuff that tastes like bread used to. Polish bread is nice. We're buying another breadmaker, just looking for good flour now.
  • You should NEVER leave a man alone in a kitchen, we have a larder fridge, we've had it for years, it's full of veg and salad and fruit!!! For some reason known only unto himself He Who Knows decided to turn the temperature control to MAX and didn't tell me! I've just gone to make a salad to go with our lasagne for supper and everything is frozen, even the stuff in the salad drawer.....AAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Well done fuddle, just shows what a daft idea they had. Your DD will thrive with you behind her.

Sorry you're still not so good mar, hope things improve for you soon. I prescribe Jelly Babies - lots of them.

Pickle's dancing display sounded like a hoot monna, hope you didn't laugh too loudly! Thankfully my DD only took part in one display then decided she didn't like it, nor did I.

I decided to break with bad habits and cook a meal (with vegetables too). I have burnt my mouth with the pie filling and there is a great big squidgy blister annoying me. That'll teach me to cook.

I do buy organic flour - I really don't like what I've read about glyphosate residues.

Sorry, pressed submit too soon. Sourdough is gorgeous but you can now get a breadmaker that makes an approximation of sourdough by preparing an initial starter and then subsequently making a loaf with it. It uses commercial yeast so it's not real sourdough but the long slow ferment will make it taste pretty good.

I don't think I can help on the flour becauseI buy organic flour in Waitrose, the Duchy brand and I'm pretty sure that's just south of the border. I seem to get better results with it than Doves.
