  • Good morning fencers . Mar and Fuds I have snow although for once it's not welcome . If it goes overnight I'll be fine but I'm still feeling like an exhausted slug so don't fancy going out in it tomorrow .

Hope our Islanders catch up on some sleep . You do make me laugh Island Maid , I have the Michael Flatley image in my head now . I'd have tipped him out of bed .

Dear Karcher I'm so glad you do have support . It may not be flu . There are so many different viruses doing the rounds at the moment that mimic the symptoms . The flu strain B is widespread here now but our Dr has not seen any of the Aussie strain yet . B is milder though still not very pleasant for the patient .
A long time ago someone on my thread who's husband is a pharmacist recommended plain paracetamol and lucozade . I'm not a lover of soft drinks but it does work and we keep lucozade in now . The paracetamol brings the temperature down and eases the aches and pains . The lucozade replaces the electrolytes and other things lost while either being sick or dehydrating .
little of it yourself warm love , this too shall pass x

Welcome to Mr APJI . As Monna said we are a happy band , sometimes a bit off the wall but we stand together through the good and the bad times and you should fit in just fine .

I have copied Monna and come back to bed with a hot water bottle in an attempt to catch up on threads . Does anyone feel we should have been able to hibernate until Spring or is it just me ?

Meanwhile did anyone watch the new adaptation of Little Women over the festive period ? I dragged myself from the sickbed to watch over the three nights and confess I remember very little of it .
I do recall thinking Jo wasn't as feisty as I recall and the story was too condensed . If anyone saw it , is it worth watching again or is it a case of " The book is always best " ?

I hope all are well . Look after yourself burtha love , I hope this year brings you peace and a cosy nest for you and the children . Just don't wear yourself out before you get there x

Right fingers crossed this will post . I'm having problems too posting and I haven't even got a tablet to blame .

    polly x

We have snow that has laid at last. It has been trying to since Thursday.

I got a prescription for my osteoporosis, last Monday. did not go straight to the chemist as it was time to get tea ready when I came out of the Doctors. Tuesday and Wednesday were spent in the bathroom, I took it to Manchester Thursday as I pass a boots, they did not have it, Friday sleet all day, Saturday the local chemist is closed. If the snow is still here tomorrow I still won't go get it. I think I am in for a telling off!

As it took a year for my dexa scan to turn up I don't think it matters that much.

Polly I don't exactly want to hibernate but I don't want to go out much. It has been cold. The winter did start early, it has been at or below freezing more often than not since the middle November, I'm surprised your the first one to mention it. Monna has the right idea. It will be cosy in bed.

I must have jinxed the snow, it stated raining as soon as I said it and it has nearly gone already. I have had a few interruptions.

I have forgotten what I was going to say. Must have been a lie as my mother used to say.

Karcher glad you have a helpful neighbour xx

We've just got home from a 50th birthday party 50 miles away, stayed overnight (more accurately, over morning as it was 3am when we went to bed! :)) and now settled on the sofa with the fire on, rugby on the tv, a sunday newspaper, glass of ginger wine and the cat :) DH is reading the inside of his eyelids ;)

Karcher -glad you have some support! Get well soon.
Floss - you are describing my sitting room apart from the fact that TV's not on at the moment! I do love a small libation of ginger wine and the cat has just plagued DH to move over in his chair to accommodate her!
DH has decided he'd like liver and onions for dinner this evening so fairly quick meal tonight ;)

Hope you're feeling better karcher, some good advice on here.

Fairly deep snow here, lovely to see all the children out playing in it, hope it's started to thaw by the morning. I've been cosied in with the stove on all day - apart from when I went to the door to thank my lovely neighbour for clearing my driveway.

Made some tasty soup and will have some chicken left over from last night for dinner soon.

Just a quick post to say we are safely home. All went well with the scattering of my brother's ashes, which is amazing when there were so many things which, due to circumstances, could have gone wrong. Thank you all for your good wishes :A

And it was so lovely to see my cousins and niece, despite the reason we were together :) And the weather was kind on Friday too.

monnagran, Islandmaid, Lyn and silvasava I waved to you all from Stokes Bay! I couldn't help but chuckle at the poor gulls and crows on the beach, but I was so sorry for them too; they kept trying to fly, but were being blown sideways, and had to settle down again.

Karcher I'm so sorry you're feeling so dreadful! You have already had lots of good advice, so I won't attempt to add any, but am sending my best wishes and I do hope you start feeling better really soon. x

burtha, Be careful lovey, running in icy weather! x

    Welcome, MrAPJI.

Lainey and Hollyharvey How nice to see you on here! :)
