Feeling sorry for myself.
I awoke an hour ago drowned in sweat. My bedding is soaked but I haven't the energy to change the sheets.
My sinuses are blocked and painful as well as a painful hacking cough.
Just had a cup of tea and some paracetamol which I hope kick in soon.
Excuse my self pity but I've noone else to moan to
So sorry that I wasn't around last night to keep you company. Sweetheart I hope that the paracetamol kicked in quickly and gave you a bit of respite. Wrap yourself up in a duvet and blankets until you have enough energy to deal with the bedding.
If you have anything at all to help with sinuses use it lavishly. Vick, Sinex,Olbas oil, steamy, head-draped-with-towel-over-bowl inhalation, all help. As for the cough everyone has their own favourite remedy mine is bronchostop and nightnurse.
Is there no one you can call on to come and help you out.
Our virtual support and sympathy is all very well but you need something a bit more practical.
As my grandma used to say - a pennyworth of help is worth a shilllingsworth of sympathy.
I so wish that there was more we could do for you.
nursemaggie, so glad that everything went well yesterday. Your journeys sound horrific. I thought I had it tough with buses trains and ferries but how you cope I can't imagine. You can't even breathe a sigh of relief on getting through your own front door if all the noise upstairs is going on.
I found yesterday very unsettling. Dark skies, howling gale, lashing rain - great, pull up the drawbridge, put the lights on, feet up and cosy. Clear blue skies, gentle breeze, bright sunshine - great, open the windiws, get out into the fresh air, potter round the garden, smile.
It's the constant switching between the two that plays havoc with my emotions.
Now I wonder if this post will survive. My internet is doing strange things at the moment, I blame the weather.

It survived monna. We have heavy snow just now and the RV is away down the road to the doc for his B12 jab. The cat and I are supporting him mentally from the fireside.
The schools were all closed yesterday when it was sunny and calm and snowless - some have opened today, but for only a morning so what's the point? Mums probably won't send them when they see it's snowing again. Must be really hard for working mums to cope with.0 -
Off to the Doctors and to brave the local town .
Karcher love if you have any Olbas oil or something similar , vicks maybe if you feel up to it put some in a bowl with hot water and put a towel over your head and inhale the vapours . Don't try this if you're feeling dizzy or wobbly I don't want you scalding yourself .

Oh karcher, feel better soon! xx
I hope the fever broke the infection and things are improving now.
Yesterday was lovely over here. I snorkelled and then walked about a mile along the beach and back. We had tuna salad pita breads for a late lunch and after a little siesta we went to watch Star Wars 8 on 3d.
This morning we skyped mum. She looked OK and has done lots of paperwork, with help from my brother (more moral support really, she is fine with paperwork). They went to see dad yester. They asked for an open coffin* because my 7 y.o niece wanted a photo of grandad - apparently that is not very unusual?! My brother took a carefully angled shot and they seem sure it will not be distressing to either of the grandkids. I chose not to ask for a copy; I am not squeamish but prefer the images of dad that I already have in my memory.
*it is wicker and looks lovely. Dad loved fishing as a hobby for most of his life and we all agreed this was perfect.
We had a quiet day today, which was just what we needed. I cooked samosas and stir fried veg for tea so no driving to a venue, no polite conversations, just us 2 chilling out. Nothing in particular planned for tomorrow eitherI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
MMF your holiday seems to be just what you needed and to know that everything is being taken care of at home leaves you free to enjoy it.
karcher, I hope things are better today, or at least no worse. This wretched virus seems to go on and on so don't panic if things don't improve as quickly as you think they should. Just concentrate on keeping warm and hydrated, everything else can wait.
Mar, hope you feel a little better today and you have everything you need for a weekend of warmth and comfort.
It's very wet here at the moment. I'm nerving myself for a quick dash to the village shop that will serve as my daily walk and the opportunity to re-stock the fruit bowl.
Then it will be the sort of pottering day I love.

Sorry but I feel dreadful. I think it's developed into flu as I can't remember ever feeling so awful. I have had a raging temperature, splitting headache along with all the other symptoms as well as being sick (sorry if tmi). Just wanted to check in though. Trying to drink my first cup of tea for over 24 hours and it isn't going down too well'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Karcher Hun, I wish a I could be of more practical use, please try and sip water as much as you can, if you have something like diarolite use that, it will help keep your salt levels up etc
Phone 111 if you need to, being on your own when that ill is not good, as you well know - feeling slightly useless apart from advice, I’m sure a lot of us would be round yours to look after you if we could xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I have a feeling your house would be full of us all if we lived near one-another karcher. I hope you feel better soon.
In the meantime I will send some get well vibes.
You know a voluntary organisation to send local people to people who live alone when they are ill would be a good idea. I wounder how we would go about it?0
