Mardatha - I got snow!!! Prima Donna cat is ecstatic ( she's a Siberian and loves snow and rain) wondered why she came in about 5.30am wet and squeaking at me.
I've definitely had a Christmas of two parts. Two weeks before I got a chest infection - anti B's didn't seem to work and I was feeling more and more awful until Saturday morning when I couldn't breathe. Queue DH calling paramedics and me in hospital on drip and oxygen while they sorted me out! My local hospital has had a lot of stick lately for waiting times inA&E but although I was in the corridor for a couple of hours I was checked and monitored frequently. It was manic with everyone doing as much as they could to give others a hand as well as their own jobs. I was taken for an ECG and a woman in the next area was screaming and swearing, really abusive - DH said they had 3 security guys in with her! I stayed overnight they sorted my meds and I came home about 7.30 on Christmas Eve. Needless to say cannot praise the teams enough - I was dealt with quickly, professionally and with kindness and good humour. How do they carry on??
Christmas day was with DS1 and boxing day with DS2 DiL and DGD so I've done B all!! ( It was previously arranged this year) Drama over thank goodness.
Thinking of you all - especially MMF, VJsmum and Burtha xxx
AckI know the feeling, 'orrible isn't it? Take it easy silvasava. x

Thriftmonster - sorry to hear your news. I particularly like NurseMaggie's post about it. Sometimes, there is a way back, a new way. DH and I are living proof of that.
Take care all, freezing out there today.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Morning all.
I hope all our poorly ones are feeling a bit better and all the sad ones find something to laugh about today.
It's cold and bright here so I must get out for a bit of a walk as tomorrow its back to the wind and rain apparently. I quite like the dark wet days because then I don't feel guilty about not being out and busy. Does anyone else have a Greek chorus living in their heads, tut tutting in disapproval when they are not doing what they should be doing?
Today I must do a modicum of cleaning up and then write a couple of well overdue letters and possibly a gossipy conversation with a friend.
VJsmum, I thoroughly agree about the salutary effect seeing crashed cars has on young drivers. My DS1 was one of those who, while not being downright dangerous, certainly pushed the boundaries. That was until he worked for several years as a recovery driver. Instant transformation.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
Monna my son was a boy racer until he sheared his breast bone in an accident, it improved his driving no end!
I don't need a Greek chorus I have my beloved off work for a week constantly reminding me of things I should be doing.
Hugs to Thriftmonster, Burtha and anyone else in need.
Get well soon wishes to Silva and Cranky and the HT.
Thick frost here today but I need to brave the icy jetty soon to empty the ash pan.
DS and his gf are hopefully visiting today, DS is taking on social services with regards DD, maybe he can kick them into action but I don't hold out any real hope.
In the mean time we just carry on and do our best.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I popped in last night to see how Christmas had gone for all and spent 2 hours catching up:eek:
Sending much love and hugs to those in need of both. I was either crying or laughing at the posts. So much to deal with for some yet the ever present support and humour on here is amazing.
We have had a few ups and downs here but nothing major so just getting on with things. Christmas went well, hubby managed 3 hours at DD's then went back to bed, so pretty good.
We had Dgs here for the night and by some miracle he slept till 7 am! Then we swopped and have Dgd while Mummy works and little man is going to his Nanna's which is our Christmas miracle. She usually cancels  When she goes home I am going to do some blitzing of the chaos which is my living room.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Burtha - you just be very careful on that frosty jetty!!
Greek Chorus - did a course at work quite some years ago with a lady who was an NLP practitioner. She asked us about the voice on our shoulder - often the one that sounds like your mother. Why does it always carp and criticise and never seem to complement and encourage? She told us to tell it to F off - whatever it was that you'd done you'd done the best to your ability and with the time and resources available so congratulate yourself and stop criticising!!
Loving today's thought Monna xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Thank you again everyone.
Nurse Maggie - we have tried to get him to do counselling over the years for several issues but he refuses - he doesn't believe in it.
WonderCollie - thank you so much for your words. I think we will always continue to be really good friends - I will still do stuff for him and he will sort out my wifi etc when I move but again I'm not sure marriage is for him. He certainly isn't talking of meeting anyone else whereas he is positively encouraging me to find someone else - yes well. I think I'd like a while to find me first.
VJsmum - so glad that your ds is ok. My elder one has just taken my car for 2 days to go and visit his GF and I always imagine the worst.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

That's so he doesn't have to feel guilty - do what you need to do for you first, definitely. Hugs to you.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I was about to say what VJsmum said...if you are happy with someone else he doesnt have to feel guilty about making you unhappy. I would second the "find yourself" thing - it makes a huge difference knowing what you like rather than what we/he likes.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Official... I have the flu, Dr said so this morning. Feelling a bit more human today, OH helped to put the decs away.
We have had the conversation he has said himself that he would no be able to cope on his own, so he will apply for sheltered accomodation, one thing less to worry about now, just the headaches and hypochondria to cope with now.0
