I shall be having words, I had a go at her social worker who said the same and also criticised me for not giving up work to support dd full time.Chin up, Titus out.0

Hester you must, must report this person to the volunteer organisation that supplies her. I had a similar situation to solve as care coordinator when a Jehovah's Witness carer explained to a man with cerebral palsy that it was god's will that he be punished in life and that is why he has his illness. I happened on my watch, on a weekend and I had to get statements from all involved for disciplinary purposes. I also was in contact with the local Jehovah's Witness church who confirmed she had their religion wrong and was asked to leave.
It doesn't matter if a person is paid or not, if we belong to any organisation we have to understand that we have things we can do and say and things we can't.
If I step out of line in the charity shop I'll be banished quick sharpish!0 -
I remember when you were leaving your house at some unearthly hour to go to your DD and get the children ready for school, buying clothes for them , feeding them, generally being there in spite of all the difficulties put in your path. Useless mother? I don't think so.
Someone should explain to the social worker that if you gave up your job to look after your dd, there would be one more person on benefits, one more divorce and 2 of you with mental health issues. I hardly think that would improve the situation.
It seems to be " get Hester" day out there today. Bottle your sloe gin love, make yourself warm and cosy and spoil yourself. We would do it for you if we could.I believe that friends are quiet angels

MMF - your mum is important too. Many years ago now we got another 'dreaded phone call', first thing sunday morning to say dad had been rushed into hospital with a suspected stroke. it wasn't, but long story short, it took all day for the hospital to work out what was going on. Dad at that time was 29 stone, on a trolley in A&E, trying to get off. Mum was 7 stone and ill but refusing to leave. It was so tough - if we'd left, dad would've been on the floor and that would have caused problems. So my focus really was mum and trying to get her home ASAP, but making sure dad was safe.
Once he was in a bed i took mum home. Dad rang the next morning, mad as hell "I've woken up in hospital, you've left me no money, no clothes, no NOTHING". Boy did he get short shrift :rotfl: (he had had an infection, the antibiotics had kicked in and he was feeling A LOT better). Later that day, when we went in, he could see that mum had been a priority once we knew he was safe.
i have just finished a photo book that I was doing for Dad's christmas presentI have ordered a copy for each sibling and one for me - almost like a ''this is your life'' of family photos. it has been a cathartic exercise..
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Hester all I can say is  unbelievable, and as others have said potentially very divisive
[STRIKE]Drink[/STRIKE] Bottle your slow gin and indulge yourself
MMF take care of yourself too x
VJsmum the photobook sounds lovely x
Well, I am upto my ears in fudge making, have been selling it to friends and family to raise a little bit of money for the local food bank, £75 so far, not a lot, but I enjoy making it and if it helps someone all the better.
I am onto ‘mission Christmas’ next week to get everything sorted, we have our Christmas meal on Christmas Eve, chill out on Christmas Day itself.
I also hit the half century a week Friday, so I want to get it all sorted by then, so I can have the day off
(((Hugs))) to all those that need them x
PS I have just discovered podcasts - merrily listening to lots of woman’s hours today :rotfl:Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

VJ's you brave brave lady. I'm blown away by your strength to be able to compile such a book at this time. I can see how it would be cathartic for you but I can also understand that it would also be a painful experience. Your siblings will cherish it.0

The shower of barstewards!!!!!!!!! I am so cross for you.
Definitely report the volunteer as she could be saying something like this to someone on the brink of doing something irrevocable.
Just waiting for a joiner to come round and fix a bolt to the upstairs bathroom as family are coming round and staying over Christmas and maybe the New Year too. My poor son in law tried to fix the old bolt a few months ago and got trapped  We did manage to rescue him but now there is no bolt and family members did not warm to my idea of singing loudly when in there

Your dad is being looked after in the hospital but it sounds as if your Mum is at breaking point. Good luck with trying to do the almost impossible.
