Monna an electric blanket would be far better for you!! Heat the bed, not the room x And maybe a hot water bottle would last longer than a heat pad thing?

karcher petal, if the OSers are like me then they may appreciate reading discussions about this and that when times are sad. For me, even though it's nice to have a place that is sensitive and caring, it's also nice for the talk to move on and therefore distract me from my troubles for a short while. That's just how I feel about the threads here when I'm having a difficult time.

What Fuddle says ^^^ with added thanks for the listening and guidance in difficult times, as well as the hilarity over anything and nothing xxx

Sometimes one benefits greatly from a bit of hilarity to lift one out of one's current situation. Especially if it involves Monna & her warm patch, Mar & the elephant and Hester & her life on the ocean waves!

Oh, yes! An electric blanket!! Every year, when the first cold spell arrives, I ask if I can have an electric blanket. The only time I have used one was on visiting my parents and I loved having really, really warm feet. Oh, luxury.

    Hmmm, thinking lovely warm thoughts......

I have always been a bit suspicious of electric blankets since a friend had one that burst into flames. To be honest, that happened more years ago than I am prepared to admit so I will certainly revisit the idea. I do have a couple of hot water bottles but you can guess where they are.......mmm.... in the depths of a barn a few miles away and barricaded in by furniture.
I am much warmer now. The temperature has risen to a giddy 15 since I realised that the bedroom door was ajar, letting in the cold air from the rest of the house. Millie hasn't mastered the art of opening and shutting doors yet.

It looks beautiful outside, sunny and bright. Looks can be deceptive.

How's it going MMF? I hope your Mum is having a bit of a break with your brother and I hope you are having a chance to look after yourself for a change.

I was awake at silly o'clock myself today! I was woken by a vixen screaming, and couldn't get back to sleep. I thought to myself "I bet Joy and karcher are awake, shall I go and chat? but the laptop was downstairs and it was very cold so I stayed put. I was thinking of you though, ladies :D
  • We're frozen in, surrounded by ice!!

CHS is fitting secondary double glazing to the bedroom windows, they were icy on the inside this morning.

It was minus 5 last night and the Marina has run out of diesel that some boaters run their heating on.

A dual control electric blanket has saved our marriage I'm sure

Although it's funny - although DH insists on not having his on more than the minimum he's always encroaching on my nice warm side. And after all this time I'm under no illusions about my personal irresistability:rotfl:
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

One of the shopping channels - not sure if it is ideal world or qvc had a cozzee home offer on a snuggly throw that could be plugged in and give a gentle heat while sitting in a chair. It could be unplugged and washed.

Would bed socks help with cold feet?

Anyone who has a log or coal fire might consider putting a brick in it to heat up,remove with tongs and wrap in towels or blanket to warm up a bed.
