Monna, anybody who knows what a split infinitive is, let alone can type it a half six in the morning, has my undying admiration and awe.

Thank you Fuddle, your words make sense...

We are a blended family - though that isn't the bit causing conflict.. On the other hand my youngest brother actually said "I love you" to me the other day, we are an undemonstrative lot and this meant so much...

Fuddle - how very astute you are. Family relationships can be so complex and even more so during the grieving process.
Spitting feathers last night. Went to make dumplings for our evening meal and when I opened my flour container the flour was brownish - assumed it was flour weevil. Never had them before cos my flour is kept in a sealed Tupperware container. Then noticed a demarcation line between the last lot I had bought and the older flour at the bottom so whatever it is was already in the bag when I bought it and I can't remember where I got it from grrr. Monna - like you I have a list as long as my arm and I need to hit the Christmas card list too. I've only got till Friday to get my ducks in a row as we've got functions and various visitors from Saturday until boxing day!!

I have a thought for today too: The road to hell is paved with good intentions! (That would be me then)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Alot of really good insight in here this morning re families. Sorry I've been AWOL and even rattier than usual, as my own family has had a bit of a meltdown this last few months.

Unfortunately the only thing a split infinitive brings to mind these days is 'Star Trek', "To boldly go", etc :rotfl:

Hey, Monna, you'd better crack on with the cards, I've just finished mine, and put together 3 'thank you' bouquets, and topped dad's phone up, and done mum's eye drops. Off to the village to get a birthday card in a mo (I have made a lovely one for my friend but both card and friend are 460 miles away!).
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I think what your siblings are doing is part of the grieving process. I know I looked for something to blame because I couldn't find anyone to blame as mm had done it to her self. If I'm honest I think my anger went on, and still is focused on, the lack of input from my wider family, collectively. It's not one person but a collection of people, in history, that just left mam, me and sister to it.

The right thing to do is recognise that mam put barriers up and made people not want to be around her but the sadness I still feel makes me not want to take it out on her, but other people.

It's complex and I'm complex but I just wanted you to see VJs that even when we (I) understand how we're thinking and behaving it doesn't stop the thoughts. You do come across as a very calm and together and I think you can see what your siblings are doing and why. I expect there will be truths on both sides but that won't help you.

The period you're in now is just the saddest VJs. My heart goes out to you. x

Very insightful, Fuddle. Thank you so much. X

I think we are all in denial about Christmas and not getting cards written. I finally got three parcels wrapped last night. If you want to know what they look like just imagine Mr Bean wrapped them.

I hate wrapping parcels I just can't get them straight. DD once came home quite early for Christmas so I got her to wrap all the parcels but her own. She got the only crap parcel.

I know exactly what is holding you back monna. It is all those letters. I usually write a generic letter and then copy it over and over again with slight variations. It's much quicker that way. You don't end up with having so much thinking time. I have been thinking I may sign mine as soon as I get them and write a generic letter through the year. I wont forget anything then.

The busiest person on here right now is the one who has got her cards all written. MMF007 I don't know how you managed that.
You don't appear to be stopping to breath. I think you have already started the grieving process.

A big hug for everybody and an especially big one for Mar as Christmas tends to make these things worse.

    Random ramblings warning :o

I've just had a long hot shower and slipped into my alluring night attire ;) which consists of:

Thick skiing socks, (cheap) jogging bottoms, vest top, long sleeved top, jumper, huge fleecy dressing gown (with hood) and fleece lined boot slippers :D...Is there any wonder I'm single :o :rotfl:

    But at least I'm warm/QUOTE]
Karcher I am so with you on the outfit I have several times looked at myself in the mirror and said those same words and tbh I'm not always warm either lol

Afternoon Fencers...I have an O/S question and did a search but came up with nothing so I thought I'd ask here as it really doesn't warrant a whole new thread.

I have a white (well it's supposed to be white) shower curtain and the bottom of it is going a pink kind of colour and it also has little patches of black mold along the bottom hem.

Does anyone have an O/S tips on how to get it white again please.

    TIA :)
I soak mine overnight in a bleach solution then put thru the washing machine and it comes up like new hth xx
