I'm frozen: a roaring fire (in a well contained hearth) would be most welcome.
And I'm all out of candles, very remiss of me as I love them.
The neighbours are making a racket as ever and worries are overwhelming, so tranquil I am not
(Please forgive my ramblings)
My thoughts are with VJsmum and MMF.
Take care and stay warm all x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Thank you all, I am just reeling but people have been so kind.
I am home now and hoping a proper nights sleep will help with the shock.
I really do appreciate all your kind words and thoughts.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
We're every lucky here, no noisy neighbours and the log burner is roaring away in the living area, it is also cooking tomorrow's beef joint. The rest of the boat is fffffreezing.
Nothing worth watching on tv, well on the few channels we get and I'm just giving up on my crochet project. I've used this pattern lots of times but cannot get it right at the moment.
I'll put it aside and try something else for a while, I have plenty of yarn, just short of ideas.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester, could you knit or crochet a colourful shawl? They are so warm :cool:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0

Just managed to get back on here.
VJsmum, I don't know whether to be sad or relieved at your news. Of course you will be sad but it must all seem a little surreal at first. I'm so glad that your Dad slipped away gently, so much better for him. I know you have family with you so you won't be coping with everything by yourself. Try to rest before all the formalities have to be attended to, it will be a busy time.
Thanks for all your advice about cards etc. I do use Jacquie Lawson cards but I send quite a few to old folks, even older than me, and I think that they like something to put up on their mantlepiece. The irony is that I have a box full of Christmas stuff that I did buy after last Christmas, but as I explained, it is now buried in the back of my friend's barn. Even my Card list is there.
I have already had a card from my mother's cousin. He is 98 and the last of that generation in my family. He explained that he sent his cards out early so that people wouldn't have to wonder if he was still alive. Incredible chap, he has been profoundly deaf ever since he was a prisoner of war in 1940. Something happened the prison camp that he has never talked about. However he still lives completely independently in his own flat.
Karcher, give yourself a break and get into bed with hot water bottles. It's freezing in this house too as apart from my room and the kitchen it is almost empty. Millie and I are quite comfy in my room with lightning dashes into the kitchen for sustenance from time to time.
Tomorrow I have another Christmas Lunch. I'm not cooking this one though, we are off to a local hotel.
Keep safe and warm everyone. Hester your boat sounds quite cosy.
MMF enjoy the odd breaks you manage to get.I believe that friends are quiet angels

So sorry to hear about your Dad VJsmum. Thinking of you and your family at this sad time.0

Wet and windy here. No snow but we rarely get any so far south. Those of you waking up to a Winter Wonderland, stay indoors and keep warm would be my advice.
I have to brave the rain and gales to get the bus into Ryde. By choice I would stay in bed and have a cheese toastie for lunch, however I will love to meet up with friends and most certainly will enjoy a Christmas Lunch that I've had no hand in cooking.
Hoping for strength and calmness for VJsmum and MMF, you are going to need both.
THOUGHT FOR SUNDAY
It is not in some heaven or some dream world of our imaginings that goodness can be done. Nor do we need bliss or joy to achieve it.
It is in the present, ordinary workshop of life that redemption begins.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0
