VJsmum so sorry for you loss.

Monna At least the hot patch is a lot cheaper than an oven door.

A tip for next Christmas Mona. Get yourself to a charity shop of your twice in the first two weeks of January and buy next years cards at half price. Buy a stamp every week and if you are making presents start in January and you ought to be ready. No presents to be bought after 1st November.

My DD was due on December 21 st. I had everything ready but fresh food by the last week in October. Good job she arrived on 6th November.

She was so small I had to start knitting again. I made her two cardigans for a 16 inch doll as she was 16 inches long. I allowed a bit of extra room under the arms. I think she still has them along with her dolls, teddies etc. The cardigans fitted tiny tears. Which she still has.

I once spent two weeks in hospital coming out on Christmas Eve. My ex had bought a turkey which I had to take the legs off to get it into the Oven. My older son cooked the Christmas dinner. It was the best we ever had. The Turkey lasted until Easter. I froze most of it on Boxing day. There was no chaos. Your family want to see you not an organised Christmas.

Btw you can also buy wrapping paper very cheap in January. Put everything in the same carrier back so you can still find them.

VJsMum, I am so sorry that your lovely dad has gone. My thoughts are with you right now.

Our dad is so much more restful today, quite sleepy but happy to have tiny chats about the grandkids. He wants to watch Strictly so we have set his tv to schedule it for later. Given the freezing conditions we are not making a 3rd trip of the day tonight. We've done late morning and 2 hours this afto and he was dozing much of the time.
When we are going we have to remember not to say the 'h' word (home). So on leaving we said we were off to the Co-Op for a few bits! We will ring him later and say goodnight.

Confession - we lunched on pie and a small portion of chips, sitting in the car, looking out to sea!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

VJs Mum so much to come to terms with in such a short time. But I hope it will be a comfort to you that he passed away so peacefully with his family around
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
