Well after I posted last night another ten pages appeared so I have to catch up. Welcome all the newbies. I see we have another from Greater Manchester Sunny. I live in Bolton.
Oh burtha I don't know what to say, but know that I am totally with you and wishing you all the best. I don't think he can just sell the house and leave you with the kids and homeless. Get some legal advice asap.
Oh polly how could you do that. If I had known I could have PMed you some immediately as DS rarely drinks tea and I can't stand the stuff. Even the smell of it makes me feel sick. He had a cup day before yesterday for the first time for months. Two teabags were used when DD came.
No they were not staying because SiL has lots of family and they were travelling round. They stayed in a nearby hotel and went on to one of SiL's brothers in Warrington next day. They will be back in Malta now.0 -
nursemaggie Our older DGS worked in a local distribution centre for another supermarket a few years ago and found it very lonely because all the other warehouse staff were from Eastern Europe and basically kept to themselves, were reluctant to speak English to him, and he actually ate his work Christmas dinner in the canteen sitting at a table on his own
He had been so excited to get the job, but left after about 6 weeks as he was so unhappy.
Not saying things would be the same at the Aldi place but it might be something to consider.0 -
Hi ivyleaf It will not be like that. Both jobs are new builds and the jobs are only open to local people it is a condition of the loans they have been given to set up the businesses.
Either way he will be working either directly or indirectly for Ald! as they are making everything for for Ald!.
He has been on two days of taking English, maths and intelligence tests. They were 150 of them at the bakery and 250 of them at Ald!. DS did say yesterday there was one man who he thinks was Nigerian who could not read the questions so he will not get the job.
I was just asking for good wishes etc for him getting the job. I think he will be better at the bakery as he stands a good chance of getting to be a supervisor and the hours will fit in with his course. We will wait and see. He cannot afford to turn anything down as apart from the few weeks at B&Q last year he has not been able to get an job in 5 years.0 -
Well it's pertiddled down most of the day today. CHS hates getting wet but as we had 2 of the DGC with us we pootled our way through 4 locks and 3 swing bridges, DGS dropped his windlass in the water at the first lock. He was devastated as he'd been told to be careful, I told him not to worry and we got the spare out and he managed to hang on to that one. We will buy a replacement at the next marina/chandlers we get to, it will be about £20 but better that a windlass should fall in than a child!
We set off from Woolhampton about 9ish and stopped for lunch at 1, we've travelled 4 miles in 4 hours and we are stopping here for the night. DD Collected the DGC about 4 o'clock, and CHS & I have sat around, chatted to other boaters, read our kindles and generally relaxed.
If it's raining tomorrow we will stay here, we are on a 48 hour mooring, if it brightens up we will trundle on towards Newbury, we will decide in the morning.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Oooo hullo
, was it froggies or not?
Have had issues with the internet, down to me apparently as I'd actually *shock* cleaned behind things in the living room and jiggled a cable loose. Bad me. lol
Can someone tell me please, is there any way to find your last post in a (this) thread? I came online with good intentions of starting where I left off, but really had no idea where that was! Maybe make a note - and not lose it - as to the page number??0 -
Hi Petula, your last post was 145, if you click on your user name you can go to previous posts you've made0

I have Tea !!!
I wasn't able go out either yesterday as there were things I needed to be home for . In between things I have torn the kitchen apart as I had a clear memory of picking up the last box of the hard to find hard water version of YT some months ago and using up the large normal boxes first . I knew I hadn't used it .
When the kitchen search proved fruitless I started looking in the most random places and came across a small bag with it still inside in another part of the house , Lord knows why, possibly a sudden rush to answer the phone , doorbell whatever .
Thank you to NM who kind and caring as ever offered to pm some in my direction , not too sure on the effectiveness of that but appreciate the thought .
I do note that not so much as a homing pigeon with a little satchel of emergency tea was sent in my direction and shall remember thatThose who mentioned they were enjoying a cup of tea , your names are on the list .
Mar I'm afraid things are no longer so close knit here anymore . Those I could ask are not tea drinkers .
Monna I can now confirm that there are indeed withdrawal symptoms , ranging from a thumping headache to strange aches and pains throughout the body . The thinking is altered and for a while I felt a little deranged . That sounds daft within a couple of days but it made me think that it must be similar to accounts of detox .
As rain stopped play today you will have to run 10 miles tomorrow .I have a feeling youare a fellow follower of Going Gently . There really can't be two of you in the world can there .
May I once more ask you to add youngest to the ever lengthening list tomorrow . Very challenging day and she believes in you , it helped at the hospital last month so much .
Lyn Sorry but your dog walk made me laugh so much . Your weather seems much more settled than OOP North . Trekking sandals and no backup?
Usual way here is thin top , cardigan of a weight suitable to current temperature and sandals back up is lightweight waterproof in bag and either shoes or ankle boots and a pair of socks too . We have perfected the art of removing or adding layers on the go and changing footwear on the go.
The important question is did you harvest any ripe blackberries while trying to get out of the bush?
Well I've sort of kept up . This thread is moving so quickly .
Hope to see you sometime tomorrow evening . Until then be good .
Hugs to any who need .

Sorry polly I thought that was better than the virtual things people usually send. I could hardly send some to;
pollyanna 26
By the sea
North west England
That could be anywhere from just below the Scottish border to the North Wales coast I suppose.
You never know though my grandfather got a letter addressed to;
Mr A Skinner
York.
It arrived next day but he was well known in York being very eccentric.0 -
Polly I have now sent a carrier pigeon. Now bear in mind he has to travel rather a long way, and may be shot at when he heads over Afghanistan, but he's a tough old bird and he'll get there in the end. Though you left me very thankful for my neighbours with whom I've exchanged (in both directions mind), tea, coffee, milk, plasterboard, tools and a rather large garden shed (over the fence to theirs, picked up in one piece by 8 of us).
Burtha, I can only add to the chorus of offered hugs and the suggestion that when a pillock does that you're better off without him (as another who had it happen). Not sure what gets into some men. I do echo the idea of getting legal advice sooner rather than later, even if it's a free session somewhere.
Will talk more soon, my 5 minutes access has expired! xxxSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070
