    Oh that's a shame, Monna.

Not too good a day today. Dad has taken a turn for the worst and is back in HDU. Apparently they are going to try 'forced oxygen' cos his sats are so low. Collapsed lung and a shadow. No idea whether blood clot (the first thing hosp said) or infection, inhaled water or worse. Getting jumpy every time the phone rings but thinking of my poor mum, currently by herself and over 70 miles from the hosp (yep, the Scottish Highlands are absolutely beautiful but somewhat remote!).

He's had a terrible cough and been really wheezy for about 2 months. He's had xrays, sputum tests etc and was booked for an MRI scan next week.

DB and I will be driving north first thing tomorrow.

(((Hugs))) and best wishes to you all xxx

Thank you all. Mum just spoke to nurse who says he is responding to oxygen and is on intravenous antibiotics so I assume they think it's infection in his lung. Hopefully I'll sleep tonight because I'll be sharing the driving tomorrow and the forecast is snow!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

MMF007. I hope you sleep too, though it's probably unlikely. Do drive carefully and here's hoping that your Dad improves by the time you get there.

MMF007 - do hope Dad continues to improve and drive safely if bad weather forecast xx
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Sorry about the house, Monna - what's the saying? That what's for you doesn't pass you by? or some such.

Hope your dad improves MMF - also having dad ishews. Mine is 85 and has my brother living there as carer. He fell the other week and is having a lot of pain with his leg ever since, and is struggling to weight bear on it. If anyone touches it, he can't feel a thing, pain wise, so we assume it's muscular or ligaments or 'twisted' somehow... My sister was trying to get to the bottom of it yesterday with the GP - i have been tasked today to pursue further ( I live 200 miles away - but was going down anyway).

Currently on the train (luckily I get free, first class train travel with OH's job) - breakfast was yum :D
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Morning all. Thank you for your commiserations but it's on with the dance.

Yesterday got frittered away somehow so today I really must force my nose back to the grindstone . The book to be edited stares at me reproachfully from the kitchen table.

MMF007 and VJsmum I hope you find the situation with your respective Dads better than you feared, and safe journeys both of you.

    THOUGHT FOR TODAY

What doesn't kill you gives you a set of unhealthy coping mechanisms and a dark sense of humour.
