MMF007, Oh my goodness, it seems that as soon as we've stopped worrying about our children, (if we ever do,) the worries about our parents begin.
Having said that, I get very gleeful about worrying my children. It's sweet revenge for what they put me through as teenagers.
I'm up and off early this morning. Millie and I have had our breakfast and I am into the shower shortly. I did offer Millie a shower, but she refused hastily and without thanks.
Then I only have to pack 7 trays of Bakewell Tart into my trusty shopping trolley and off to the bus.
I may pop in later if I'm still in working order.
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
The secret to staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly and lie about your age.I believe that friends are quiet angels
Who lift us to our feet when our wings
Have trouble remembering how to fly.0 -
MMF007 Sorry to hear about your dad, I really hope he makes a quick recovery x'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
MMF So sorry about your Dad, and thanks for the tip about boots xx
monnagran I suppose if Millie had a shower you'd get another one afterwards when she shook herself0 -
MMF sorry to hear about your Dad - hope he makes a swift recovery.
Monna - take care and batten down the hatches - there's a sou'wester coming in strong enough to blow your socks off!
Excitement this morning - went into the utility to feed the cat about 8.30am, when I looked out the window there's a hawk of some sort at the bottom of the garden having his breakfast - he was there for quite a while so DH will dispose of what's left - if anything!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
MMF sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he recovers soon.
Well about noon yesterday I think Santa's reindeer moved in above us. There was the most awful racket constantly until dead on 9 pm. not as sound after that. I have not asked DS if he slept alright. We have more black African refugees above us. Only heard one child this morning. Perhaps the reindeer only came to help.0 -
Oh joy nm
I really really hope all goes well with the new house xx

Thanks ivyleaf I just wish someone would help all these people and tell them how to behave in the UK. They are just dumped in these flats not being able to speak English. It must be just as horrible for them as it is for us.
DS says someone came and knocked on there door and told them to shut up.0 -

I think the big problem we have with them is cultural. No one tells them anything about recycling, which bins for which and not to use other peoples bins. I am sure everyone knows that if you clomp about in heavy shoes the din is unbearable below. They must have been worse than I thought if people above them or across the hall complained because apart from loud music most of the noise goes down. It really was a racket.
It's very quiet today. Perhaps most people who are not at work are getting ready for Christmas. If I get a word in and manage to get DS to get the wrapping paper down I will get all the parcels wrapped.
I have not bought any wrapping paper for since 2008. I had a good look before I put it all away that year and though I have a huge amount. I used to buy 3 or 4 big rolls in the January sales. I have not managed to finish one roll yet. I think I will be giving most of it to DD when they when they come home next year.
I'm hoping SiL gets a job at at Manchester Uni. We has been with Malta uni for two years now. He is in charge of foreign students and improving there English.0 -
Thanks for all the kind thoughts. Dad is still in hosp and still awaiting an angiogram. He is on oxygen but seems to be communicating ok. Mum visited, took him some things and tried to keep him calm. He was a bit put out because the angio was postponed and he wants to come home...luckily the nurses put the bed rails up so that stopped his urge to wander. As mum pointed out to him, he is tethered by the oxygen tube anyway!
Busy day, including defrosting a very icy freezer, cleaning, shopping and then cleaning out two grids! On the bright side, a client has asked me to put up and decorate her xmas tree (next week!). I love doing this. I do it for several people every year. Lets me exercise my creative spirit :rotfl:
Hope everyone is warm and dry, and no socks (whether odd, matching or comic) have been blown off!I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0
